Uh-oh.....Sounds like you either got a pirated copy (always a real possibility), or your game has gone bad.
Actually, this has been becoming a common complaint lately. It seems to be more common with Friends of Mineral Town, but it has been known to hit More Friends of Mineral Town as well.
The save thingy in the game cartridge will have gone, unless, like Pumpkin said, it's a pirate copy. You can, if you choose so, send the game off to Nintendo, who will relace it, but unless it's a game you play every day or therabouts, I wouldn't bother, and would buy a new game.

eh,there is a save battery?0_0
Yes, there's one inside the cartridge. It's not meant to go over 5-6 years, though.
If you have a console repairs shop in your neighbourhood, they might be able to repair the cartridge (for what it worth...).

oh no.. ive had mine for about 3 now... but this hasn't happened to me yet.
though i can't even save once with my pokemon emerald version game.
i think it's pirated. or w/e?
yeah, I got that with my old FoMT game after a year or so... it just quit saving. I remember we used to leave it permanantly charging all the time to try and keep it on, but it ran out of charge when it had fully charged and then uncharged again.
