So, I can't find this information on the website for Harvest Moon. When you find the cursed tools, is it possible to find them in the squares (Clarification: squares, when you till the area) against the wall or around the stairs?

I would post this in the older topic that talks about cursed tools, but it's exactly 10 days old...So I'm not sure if I'm allowed to bump it back up. -___-

Just like the stairs going down to the next level, I don't think cursed tools can be found around the wall, or around the stairs going up.

do that thing where you save it the floor before, and then mine in the next floor where the item should be.
if it isn't there then reload?

You don't save on the floor before, or the tool will be in a different spot, you save on the floor.

Remember that if you save on the floor of and the stairs aren't there, you're forced to go back to the surface. So if you have an empty save slot, you could use one to save on the floor of and the other to save on the floor before, just to be safe.
