How to get Wonderfuls during Winter

I have another problem.
After JungleJim indicated that the shipping works instantly for +1 credit, I went to work immediately attempting to get an indigo wonderful.
after several tries of shipping boiled eggs (+2 Cooking), I found that Chen was selling an orange wonderful the next day. I now have 13 eggs left, so I kept the save file there. I attempted, one at a time, each of the 13 eggs. Chen was not selling anything after that initial orange wonderful.
I quickly remember that I had not brushed my horse that night yet, so I went to brush the horse (+1 Animal). Then I saved the file in front of the shipping bin, in expectation of having to try an additional 13 times. I tried the next day, and an yellow wonderful popped up... I was surprised because I did not touch fishing or other... or so I thought. After a quick review of the readings here, I found that my tool using adds to "other" as well. That's fine, because I still had 13 eggs to go.
so I started trying them one by one.
1 boiled egg, next day yellow wonderful
2 boiled eggs, next day yellow wonderful... I continued 13 times, and each time chen had a yellow wonderful in the shop! shipping off cooking made no difference? I would truly appreciate it if someone could solve this mystery for me.
I want to put some information down about my save file first, because I write about my speculations. This is to avoid having to answer questions about my file (in order to find out what would have caused it)
- I am in year 1, and the next day that I see chen is winter 2
- it is roughly 11:10 pm when I go to sleep each time I make my attempt (ruling out the ineffectiveness of passing midnight)
- The thing i am shipping is a boiled egg, which is a cooked item.
At the moment, I am guessing it's one of the following things:
1. Once a wonderful matches the sale, it cannot change (which can't be true because I changed from orange to yellow)
2. since I am only in year one, my other degree is probably dominant? maybe that affects what I can receive
3. I have never seen an indigo wonderful before. Perhaps I need to see it first before chen can sell it?
4. Some other mysterious reason that I don't know about
I would very much appreciate it if someone could help me out!!!
Thanks so much :D

Well, a yellow wonderful appears if your fishing and other scores match, so I do not believe shipping cooked items would change anything, unless shipping cooked items is supposed to increase both cooking and other scores. If you want to get rid of the yellow wonderful in case it is overriding an indigo one, use a tool inside your house once.
What you may not have taken into account, is that shipping cooked items adds 2 points. So going from 0-99, you'll only cycle through the even numbers 0, 2, 4 etc. What you need to do is cook an item which gives adds 5 points and lets you cycle through the odd numbers.

There could be a couple other things at work.
1. How many wonderfuls were on your brush? If none, then yes it would increase animal degree by 1 (but see #2 below). If 1 wonderful (single yellow is very common thing to do the first year) then you'd get 2 points. Note that this phenomenon only affects animal, crop, and mining points, not other.
2. What is your exact title? If you are Knight or above the title will tell you which degree is highest. That's important because, the highest degree gets multiplied by 2, and the 2nd highest gets multiplied by 1.5.

I decided to settle with the orange wonderful for now, and I will be trying again for winter 6. My title is Viscount Veg Lv 78.
I'm not sure what that means. I am unfamiliar with the impact from titles... I am assuming I have crop as highest... so it shouldn't affect my animal or cooking. I plan on saving some boiled eggs over the next couple of days, along with 1 raw egg to switch between odd and even. Hopefully it will work for winter 6.
Thanks for your help, all xD

UGH! Heeeeelp!
I'm not getting any wonderful to show up in Chen's :( This is what I did:
1)Shipped 1 weed
2)Sleep
3)Check Chen's
4)Shipped 2 weeds
5)Sleep
6)Check Chen's
I cycle through 50 weeds, to cover the even number. Then I did:
1)Shipped 1 weed, use axe once, at home
2)Sleep
3)Check Chen's
4)Shipped 2 weeds, use axe once
5)Sleep
6)Check Chen's
Again, cycle through 50 weeds follow by 1 axe used at home to cover the odd numbers.
Wonderful is still not showing up :( My title is currently Viscount Veg Lv14. What am I doing wrong? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

If crops is your highest then other is most likely your second highest. If so it can mess with your point gains:
use tool: floor(1 * 1.5) = 1 so that's fine
ship other item: floor(2 * 1.5) = 3 and there's the problem
If that's your situation you need to check 3 cases:
1. don't use tool, ship between 1 and 33 weeds
2. use tool once, ship between 0 and 32 weeds
3. use tool twice, ship between 0 and 32 weeds
Make sure you ship the weeds one at a time (stack glitch). Also if you run out of stuff to ship, you can just use the tool but then you might have to recover stam somehow.

Oh My gosh!! THANK U THANK U THANK U Jungle Jim! You're are truly the HM Wonderful King! **I kneel and bow and hail to you!**
I shipped the weed individually like you suggested. And finally on my 12th weed shipped, a blue wonderful showed up! I don't think I quite understand the calculation:
Shipped 12 weeds = 24 points * 1.5 = 36 points?
So all my point gain will be multiple by 1.5 since crop is highest?
I'm trying to get an orange. So I would:
1) Cook 4x = 5 point * 4 = 20 * 1.5 = 30 points
2) Shipped 2 cooked recipe = 4 points * 1.5 = 6 points
Is that even close to being correct? :D lol I'm really not good at figuring these out.

Thanks again Jim! And WOAH! By dumb luck I got an indigo!! Even better!
Indigo: cooking and animal digit match up
I cooked 8x (8 * 5 points = 40 points)
Which match up with my animals = 40 points
Blue: animal and other digit match up
Now I am lost, I thought my animal points is 36 since I shipped 12 weeds and got a blue:
(12 weeds * 2 points) * 1.5 (other multiplier) = 36 points
How do you guys come up with the calculation? My head is really spinning! *_* And it's spinning even more when I go through all the pages of post! @_@
Also, can I cook in stacks? I've been cooking 1 by 1 and it can be a pain when I'm going for the orange. 3

Let's say your cooking points initially was 1242. Cooking 8 times gave you an additional 40 points for a total of 1282. If you saw an indigo wonderful, then your animal digits also must end in 82. But since you don't know what the initial cooking value actually was, you don't know what the final match value was. All you can say is that they matched.
Same goes for animal and other. But keep in mind the multiplier is applied for each individual action and then rounded: 12 * (2 * 1.5). In this case they are the same answer, but in general they may not be.
Unfortunately if you cook in stacks you only get 5 points for the whole stack.
