Question about recipes

Do they appear in your recipe book when you make them, even if you didn't get the recipe in the game? My GBA finally bit the dust, so my mom is playing on my old DS Phat, but there's no way to connect it to the GameCube. She's trying to complete her recipe list, but obviously, without a way to link to AWL, Ruby/Luu won't be coming to her town to give her any recipes.

If you make it, it doesn't matter where you get it from, it will count, as long as you make it.

Okay, thanks! I'll just get the list from the site, then. I taught her to make moon dumplings this morning, but I didn't remember seeing it in her recipe list, which made me wonder whether I'd just overlooked it, or it had to be obtained in the game to show up.

Another question: She says the store doesn't have any bread. Is there another place to get it?

I showed her the picture on the site--it's the same as the one from DS/Cute, except on that game, of course, you call the Mineral Town store on the telephone--but she insisted it wasn't there. I may have to check it out tomorrow and make sure she hasn't done something horrible to it. She doesn't understand about glitches and translation errors and such, so it's entirely possible she triggered something and didn't realize it.

I imagine it's there in her game, too, and she just overlooked it, but we all know how glitchy these games can be! It IS at the general store/supermarket/whatever, right? The one that Karen and her parents run? That's where I meant for her to look, but come to think of it, I just said "store," so maybe she misunderstood me.

Or maybe the GBA ate it. I'm not sure what, exactly, was the problem with it, I think she said "the screen was gone" and "we" needed a new one (I've used it exactly once, to connect to AWL one time, and the only other time I've even touched it was to start a new game for her, so yeah, "we" are getting a lot use out of it), so I gave her my old DS and explained that she was NOT to attempt to change the battery like she did the GBA. (Mine wasn't the SP, so it ran on regular, disposable batteries.) She's easily defeated by modern technology, but fortunately, even my technophobe mother knows about rechargeable batteries.

Yeah it's Karen's store, left hand side at the very top. You actually have to be right at the top of the store to see it so I can see where she may have missed it...

. The Game COULD have eated it, GBA games are terrible. Took me two tries to load up my game just now (first time the screen went white after Game Boy the next it went black D<).

Ushi hangs up this time of night, I think it's the influx of Europeans just getting up, and checking their messages before they head off to school. (It's 2am on Sunday here in the US, so it's somewhere between 8am and noon-ish Monday morning in most of Europe, I think, since they're across the International Date Line.)

I've never played too many GBA games, so I haven't had a lot of trouble with them, but I'm having a terrible time with DSes. I'm on my third one now, although considering that I got my first one at launch, several years ago, I guess that's not *too* bad of a track record. My first one disappeared--with my perfect Animal Crossing town that I worked SO hard on!--and I think someone "borrowed" it without permission and was afraid to return it for fear of getting caught. I thought my second one was wearing out because the screen started dragging sometimes when there was a lot going on (especially with LoZ: Phantom Hourglass), but it may not have been the DS. I have LoZ: Spirit Tracks now, and it's REALLY dragging in a lot of places. Although I guess my DS Lite is getting kind of old, too. I remember that Cute was the first game I played on it, and that came out in March 2008, so it's close to two years old now, and I play it a LOT.

She's already gone to bed for the night--and I should be, too--but I'll tell her where to find it in the morning, and if she still can't find it, I'll check it out myself. Thanks for the info.
