Ugh... I wish I learned Japanese years ago..

Lol, just complaining here..
I really like being able to read the dialogue in games, as I tend to enjoy games on their story (thus, I'm a heavy RPGer).
The game looked so interesting that I just had to get it. The characters look so interesting, I wish I could get to know them, but I can't since I don't really know Japanese. I can't read kanji, hiragana, or katakana.
I wish I took the time to study that beginner Japanese book my brother got years ago. But, I decided to get distracted by other games.
Well, I guess I'll try learning from the book now.
How much Japanese do you need to know to have no trouble reading the dialect in the game?
I wonder if one semester of Japanese will be good.
I have the "Colloquial Japanese: The Complete Course for Beginners" by H.D.B. Clarke and Motoko Hamamura. I wonder if that book would equal one semester.. ;(

Unfortunately for me I haven't been able to get my hands on WB (not even in emulator)so I can't tell if my lessons in the game I told you work
If it were voiced you bet I could understand at least half of the whole conversation
I need to study more,too.

Honestly, learning the characters is a piece of cake. It's the vocabulary that gets me. I always have a Japanese-English dictionary somewhere by me when I'm doing my Japanese.
Good site for memorizing the characters:
http://www.realkana.com/
You have to involve yourself as much as possible. I like to look up Japanese songs of Disney movies and translate them into English. I use
http://jisho.org/ when I come across a word I don't know.

=D Thanks!
Btw, did you play WB? Is it worth it? xD I still haven't done my gaming on it because of the foreign language, lol!
I'll either have to eventually suck it up and play without understanding a word, or get to studying Japanese! xD

No, honestly, I can't stand the art style of WB. Dx But because I'm such a hardcore HM'er I'll probably get more excited about it when it gets close to coming out in America. I said the same thing about IoH and SI.

Well yeah it is kinda easy to learn the characters but I forget things easily so I guess I must practice often so I become decent at it.(do you mind if I use the links too,KonekoChan???)
And I don't like the art that much either but but that doesn't make it nesesarily better or worst the gameplay and the story is counts to me.

Haha, they're not my sites so of course you can use them!
I really don't care about the storyline, I preferred it when Harvest Moon didn't have one honestly. The art matters to me because I play Harvest Moon only as a dating sim, really. A dating sim where you can have kids. ;3
So I'd say that the characters stories and whatnot are probably the most important to me.

Hahaha guess it's just an habit of mine to ask for things before using them
No way you see harvest moon a date sim!!!!
I see it that way too!(some of them)
