Carter's confessional

Can someone tell me why sometimes Carter gets upset when you confess, and sometimes he says you are forgiven. I cannot detect a pattern and I'm horribly curious if there's a reason behind his moods.

I had the same curiosity, but after confessing oh so many times, I came to the conclusion that it's picked at random :>

as far as i know, it's totally random
save right before you confess, then reload until you get the response you want. :D

I confess, like whenever I can, and I save before doing it. Sometimes it takes one try to be "forgiven by the Goddess," and sometimes it takes 10. It's totally random.
