Questions: Coins, Fireflies, Windmills, Fishing Pole

I *can* technically read Japanese but I am often lazy so forgive me if these answers showed up and I just didn't bother reading them. ^^*
What the heck do I do with coins? I've been collecting them like crazy, now have multiples of each type except gold (just 1), and as far as I can tell there is no purpose to them? Should I just sell them? That seems economically irresponsible, it could cause inflation of the G! Har har.
How the hey do you catch fireflies?? T-T
How do I unlock the remaining recipes in my windmills? Is it part of the leveling up process?
I did an "upgrade" to my short fishing pole in the second windmill but I didn't really compare the original description to what it says now. It still catches pretty crappy fish to be honest. In addition that same "upgrade" is still available. 0.o Did I do something meaningless or does it change something I'm not aware of?
Thanks in advance~

1) Well, you can sell them, upgrade them or give them as a gift. If you have an ordinary yellow coin and a gold ore - you can make a golden coin in the 2nd mill. Later you can sell it.
2) Stand next to the firefly and press B
3) You have to buy the purple wonderful from Fucho (on the bazaar) and put it into the empty slot (the windmill).

4. The "upgrade" you did only affects the fishing pole's rank (stars). It doesn't change how far it can cast. If you want to change how far the pole casts, you have to buy a new one from Fredrick at the bazaar. (super lame :p) A higher rank means you can get higher-ranked fish, which sell for a little bit more profit.

Is it really that easy for everyone else? I just CANNOT get close to the little buggers... I tried sneaking up on them and it did let me get a little closer but still not enough time before they disappear to catch them.

They do not disappear XD They are still there even if their light is off for a moment. So you can catch them even if they are invisible.

Some insects such as the firefly you can not get close to while running or in 'run mode', which is toggled by 'L.
