Store room "power up"?

So I just wasted 30K "powering up" my storeroom at the last bazaar, thinking it was going to enlarge it. -_- Now I know I need to go to Wilbur for that, but can someone tell me what I actually did do? I don't see any difference...

Are you sure it's storeroom? You see, you can also ask Wilbur to enlarge your field. Are you sure you didn't got it mixed up?

The store room power ups are basically like upgrading your refrigerator in IoH/SI - now items you place in them won't rot as fast as they did before the upgrade.

Gannon does storeroom power-ups and bazaar stand size upgrades.

Wilber does crop field expansions and storeroom resizing.

Cherubae -- Thanks! :) (Although, I had no idea items ever rotted D: I guess I don't leave them there for long enough, and didn't get far enough into IoH to find out...)

Star -- Yes, it was my storeroom. That's why I said "now I know I need to go to Wilbur for that" -- because I bought from Gannon. :P

WB's rotting is a bit different than IoH/SI. In WB, items get star ranks (1 to 5) but they also get a freshness rating. The rotting occurs as the freshness decreases, and a less-fresh item sells for less gold. The stars don't decrease.

If things rot, do you know if they will be unable to produce cooked items (i.e., always result in failed dishes)? Or if they would make you sick?

I don't believe so, but I am not sure. The freshness affects the sell price.

I'm not sure about rotten items, but if you cook less-than-fresh items, they will be restored to full freshness. It's a convenient way to double your items' shelf life, or to rescue items that have sat around for too long.
