Well first off: My cousin introduced this series to me when I was a child. I didn't have any systems but when I played Harvest Moon AWL I begged my mom to get me a gamecube. Its sort of my connection to my cousin and I. We always share HM games and talk about it. So I hold dear feelings for this series because my cousin and I play it together.
I also love dating sims, and im always on the lookout for them. But I cant play dating sims just with dating, I need games like HM or Persona since just Dating sim isnt enough for me.
My whole family is a family of farmers, so I love this game since we farm as well.
I would play a HM game if it didnt have dating. Thats not all I like about it. I love games with normal lifestyles or jobs in it. (HM farmer, Trauma Center surgeon, Cooking mama cook, etc)
Of the games you listed, I played these:
Animal Kingdom,Reel Fishing , Innocent Life, Legend of the River King, Rune Factory, Harvest Moon, petz, sims, diner dash, and Ive played Cooking Mama a little bit on my cousins DS. I want to buy Princess Debut.
Harvest Moon is most definitely not perfect, I have other games that I would play any day over Harvest Moon, but it is one of the series that I follow very closely, and is one of the ONLY series my family enjoys.
If those festival style mini games were Harvest Moon style, most definitely. I wouldn't if it was like Mario Cart. Why would Farmers be racing? I can just play my copy of Mario Cart if I wanted to race. Fighting game sounds cool, I admit, since I love fighting games, but Harvest Moon? No. Unless its like Rune Factory fighting. and that would be an RPG. If it wasnt about farming then it wouldnt be Harvest Moon, If they want a game about just cooking or that, they could call it something else. Although, like I said, I love games where you play as a person with a real job, so I would buy it if it were focused on a real job.
As long as it has farming then it doesnt matter if they add.change some things, I mean, I LOVE Rune Factory, so why dont they mix it up abit? Although of course, they should still stick with the normal HM games, throwing in a different one once in awhile.
