where do i find the coins?

In the water (you can jump to the river)
On the ground (sometimes you can see something shiny. Press B and tadaa! The coin will be found =D)

Usually you can find only common yellow coins. But if you are lucky, you will find bronze, silver or even gold coin.

You can make the bronze/silver/gold coins in the 2nd windmill too. But first you need to get/buy some ores (silver, bronze or gold).
