Question~

Mkay, the rubbing thing. Usually, I rub, then talk twice, then gift (if I have a gift). If I have a gift, should I rub, give gift, then talk? The two I've been gifting (Julius and Jin...cause they're easy) have two hearts, while everyone else has one. (Hamilton loves me already and has two..I didn't do anything). Would their hearts go up faster if I gave them the gift second?

I asked this in a different thread, but didn't really feel like I got a definite answer. For a while, both Shelly and the Wizard were on their request thing (Shelly needed stuff for the rucksack (got) and Wizard wants the good cornmeal (still working on that)). I'd go and rub them every day and "talked" to them...yet they're still at zero hearts, whereas other villagers that I've rubbed and talked to (no gift) have one heart.

Is it worth my while to continue rubbing Wiz and talking to him even though I don't have cornmeal yet? (currently growing corn..) I've been stocking up on the fugue mushrooms to give to him after we ring the bell.

Wizard is the one I want to marry...though I do want all the love letters. Except the king. he's a poo face and I want to get married and not wait for him.

To be honest, I really don't think it matters what the order is. As for the Wizard thing? Uh, I have no idea. I started to befriend Wizard after I got his crystal ball, and it went up rather fast. and then I married him. I feel bad for betraying Gil.

Hm, it might not matter. *wishes for points when it comes to the friendship thing* The hearts are nice, but I like sort of knowing how close I am or knowing whether or not my talking is really doing anything...oh well.

Meh, I want the Wiz cause then everyone else gets married. :] And he's my current favorite now, I kind of like the quiet introvert or something like that. But I'll still make the others love me. bwahahaha.

The info is kind of conflicted... Some people say that rubbing is like giving a loved gift, while others say that rubbing just favorably modifies whatever you do next. If it's the former, then we can see why the hearts would raise so fast, but the latter... that's a little different, and not as good. I think. Too bad we only have an abstract system like hearts and not like, numbers or something to look at. Then we'd know for sure!

I'll say this, though— Although giving a loved gift is best, a liked gift seems to work just as well! I've been giving both Anissa and Renee Herbal Tea as a gift and using my usual pattern (rub, gift, talk). Anissa loves the tea, whereas Renee just likes it (♥), but the difference in how fast the girls' hearts have raised hasn't been very big at all. Renee's hearts raise one, maybe two, days behind Anissa.

Personally, I think the only thing that matters is rubbing first and everything else is inconsequential. I just go with 'rub, gift, talk' because I like getting the 'hello' out of the way along with the gift.

I've also noticed you don't really need to be giving people gifts in order to get their hearts up. For a while, I only talked to everyone, no rub, no gifts. No one's hearts went up. Around mid-spring I obtained another controller and started rubbing and talking to everyone. Everyone almost immediately starts springing up with a heart within the week. I've got people who are chilling out at two hearts in the beginning of summer and I haven't given them a gift yet. Those I have given gifts are closer to three hearts. (And Hamilton..)

I think the rubbing acts the same as "love gift". If it just doubles the talking stuff, I doubt they'd go up that fast. If it acts as a gift plus the talking, then it makes more sense.

Although I do think that for those people who are in the middle of a request (like the Wizard and Shelly) the rubbing and talking doesn't do much. I can't give them gifts beside their requests, and talking just shows me the request. I've been rubbing and talking to the Wiz ever since mid-spring or so...still no heart. Same for Shelly.

So I decided that I was going to either have that love letter by Lacey's birthday or bust!, and... I didn't get it. Oh, well. (Better luck in New Game +, eh? I wish I'd known that Brass Bar stocked Apple Cocktails earlier... Darn it!) At least I can take solace in the fact that I'm finally hooking her up with the Wizard for good...

... and the fact that once he's at enough hearts for us to start having kids, I'm going to be making the "I put on my robe and wizard hat" joke more times than I should be allowed to.

Still, though... New Game +? That King is going to be sorry!

Haha yeah I sort of gave up on getting his letter as well since I knew I was just going to marry the Wizard anyway and I was sick of waiting... And that joke is all the worse when you actually own a wizard hat.

Yeah I pry won't go for the King's letter or anything. I want to be married before I even meet the king. I have a bad habit of not getting married or having kids because I'm always so worried about seeing everyone's scenes. Yeah, I'll just get the letters. The Wizard is at 0 hearts while everyone else (except Gill and King..not available) has 1, 2, or 3. Not worried. woo.

Oh the weather.

It says I have a typhoon coming in for tomorrow...I know you can go outside during them, but is there anything else I should know? Can I still care for my animals? Visit people? How badly will my crops be damaged? When is weather determined/can I make it not be a typhoon tomorrow?

Can I re-gift? Jin gave me a remedy..and he likes remedy...can I give it back to him? <-<

About the weather: Yes, just don't let your animals graze and don't walk with your character's child(ren) and spouse...

Regifting: You can, but I personally like to keep the stuff they give me...

regifting is excellent if you got an item someone else likes/loves. if no one does, i just sell it. ^^~

So I finally got Lacey married!

I had her surprise the Wizard with the Blue Feather on Summer 12. I had already spoiled myself on how the proposal would go, so the only surprise was when the wedding day would be...

... and he picked the next day!

I knew he could because I read up on marriage beforehand, of course, but... Geez, bud, you just can't wait, huh? But I'm not all that surprised since I had him at 10 hearts for like, ever and all.

Other weird events surrounding the marriage include the fact that it's only a day apart from Lacey's birthday (Summer 11), and on Summer 12 the Harvest King finally came around to ask Lacey out on a date. I was kind of torn on what to do, but in the end I said, "Well, I said you had until her birthday, and I meant it, mister!" I'm glad I went ahead and proposed when I said I would, but I feel bad that it knocked the good ol' HK down a heart... Ah, well.

Next up: Marrying off everyone else!
