Yes, it is like in GrB, but honestly, you don't need to eat, because your HP (or whatever it is called) drops veeeeeeery slowly.

You missed getting the shears?

If so, you either have to start over or use AR (that is what the other person with this problem did I believe). Or not shear your sheep/alpacas ever... Which would be unfortunate because you need wool for outfits.

The reason you would need to start over is because you will never be presented with another opportunity to get the shears, it's just that once at the beginning.

A. This is a form of Anti-piracy put into the game. If you are using a flash card, or downloaded the game, the AP makes it so you can't make friends with anyone and your animals will constantly be sick. Unfortunately it also has effected some retail copies of the game. If you have the retail version, and are having trouble with it being glitched, I suggest you contact the game supplier and inquire about getting another copy.
