Festivals.

I have no need to attend some of the festivals in town, for example, I didn't go to the Cow Festival because I didn't own any full grown cows.
So, instead of going, I've just been spending the whole day on my farm, watering crops, chopping stumps, etc.
But, I was just wondering, by skipping festivals, do I lose friend points with the villagers?
And if so, do I gain friend points by attending them?

I don't believe you gain any points with the villagers, but I do know that you will gain farm points for each festival that you attend, and winning festivals will get you even more farm points, as well as make it possible for your winning animal to have better eggs/milk.
