In case anyone is curious, Amir means prince.
Aha, I knew it sounded like a very suitable name for a prince! >w>

Nurse Fin wrote:I still wonder why they picked Emiko specifically. That kind of name didn't even cross my mind when thinking about serious name changes. I was sure it would be Kaguya... I like Kaguya D: (in Japanese folklore Kaguya is the princess of the moon, for those curious) Oh well. Maybe "Emiko" is the name of a coworker's friend's daughter or something like that.
Kaguya makes me think of the touhou character D;

I love Amir. I'd actually be hoping that that would be the name they chose. It fits him in my opinion. And it reminds me of Prince of Persia...!

I'm okay with Emiko. It's a nice name, but I think they could have found a better fitting one. Personally, I agree with others that Kaguya would have been a better choice.

At least they're not terrible names. Ivan sounded better bad when I first heard it, but now it's grown on me.

I like both Kagetsu and Emiko...but I like Kagetsu a little more. And I like Amir a whole lot better than Schmidt.

Kaguya ? Why ?
In Japanese folklore, Kaguya is the princess of the moon (the name Kagetsu also is related to the moon.. kaguya means radiant night, kagetsu is probably radiant moon..). A bamboo cutter found her as a baby in a bamboo forest, and took her home and raised her with his wife as their daughter. As she matured, rumors spread of her mysterious beauty. Five princes asked for her hand in marriage, and she gave 5 impossible tasks as conditions for marrying her. Of course since they're impossible they all fail, and she even rejects the proposal of the Emperor of Japan because as the moon princess she can't be with someone of Earth. One night she had to return to her home kingdom, and she gave a letter and the elixir of life to the emperor as a farewell. The emperor read her letter and became very sad, and he decided he must find the place on earth closest to the moon kingdom, which is the great mountain of Suruga province. The emperor ordered his men to take the letter and elixir of life to the top of the great mountain and burn it, hoping that his message would reach her. The word "immortality" (fuji) became the mountain's name (it also references the soldiers ascending the mountain to burn the letter). Mount Fuji!

(this story was featured in Sesame Street's Big Bird Goes To Japan ^___^)

I dunno I think it sounds 100x cooler than Emiko, and it's even a better name than Kagetsu IMO... Kagetsu lives in a mountain, and you can only meet her at night, and she's apparently from another world. The main difference is that you can actually marry her :P

^I was another one of the one's who thought that they'd change it to Kaguya (though I suppose it's not surprising they didn't, since that story isn't well known in NA). In any case, after giving it some thought, Emiko is way too plain a name for Kagetsu. =3= (Ah, well. I'll get used to it)

I can't get used to Schmidt's new name... D:
Kagetsu's new name isn't too bad, though.
I'll probably end up calling them their Japanese names, anyway. xD
