Just wondering if anyone has found a benefit to befriending any of the following:

Harvest Goddess (Seems like a waste of my hard-earned crops/flowers. D:)
Horse (It doesn't even show up in my animal book? I bet the animal contest won't cycle through horse either, though I could be wrong.)
Owl (Except for animal contest... Why would I ever feed it those expensive cookies? Can it fly faster with higher hearts? I doubt it seeing as it's already instantaneous. >_>)
Any forest animal (Cuz it's cute? For ducks that's enough motivation but honey and eggs and such are too valuable to waste if there's no benefit.)

Also, has anyone found anything from Bluebell or the restaurants that Rui likes?? I give him all the dry curry I get from the Ucho brothers, but that is very rare. He's falling behind! Actually, I could use help with Michael and Ilsa too...

EDIT: Wild animals will bring you items if you befriend them, though it's only about once a month (the event apparently happens with 25% likelihood).

Rui also likes magic blue grass (those blue wildflowers) and those weird black stones that give you ore when you hit them with a hammer~

I was trying to befriend the Harvest Goddess but it didn't work. I was giving her flowers and gifts for her bday. I also unlocked the tunnel between the villages etc. And... nothing! Zero! Nada! She still has only one tiny flower. The same problem is with Pierre. Even if I win 50 cooking contests, his FP will not grow. Now I'm wondering... maybe you will be able to befriend her only if you are playing as a dude and you want to marry Alisa? I don't have idea :/

The horse is kinda like the pets from DS/Cute. You don't need to feed it and there is no any festival. I brush my horse and sometimes I give her a cookie because I want to feel like she was the real animal. I imagine her eating grass.

I don't have the owl because it freaks me out and I don't find it usefull. The food for it is expensive too.

I heard if you befriend the wild animals, they will find some stuff for you. But I don't know if that's true. I have befriended weasels

They're unlocked on autumn year 1. You can buy them at Kilik or Granny.
