HARVEST MOON SHOULD ALLOW SAME-S.E.X MARRIAGES
BEFORE YOU READ:
I don't mean to be all political but I mean gay kids need role models and things like that, too. Games, movies, and tv shows with only straight role models make them grow up thinking that they are freaks for feeling attraction to the same s.e.x. People push and push kids to believe that the only way of life is the heterosexual way and it is really difficult for gay kids without so much as a video game to relate to.
So here's my issue. Every Harvest Moon game that is released doesn't allow same-s.e.x relationships. In the description it says, "Find love, get married, and start a family [unless you're g.a.y then you're screwed]." I'm so sick of playing the game and just marrying the girl that looks prettiest or is the nicest or whatever. I think it's time that they make a game that allows you to marry whoever you want (girl or boy). Love knows no gender. And for all the people who think it'll upset parents for teaching kids that it's okay to accept everyone no matter what differences there are, it may make future generations of kids less hostile towards gays. I mean, mostly all movies and video games don't have same-s.e.x relationships and I think it's time that they allow the option to. Not all people who play video games are heterosexual. I just don't think it's fair how these games are so biased towards heterosexuals and completely ignoring homosexuals.
And for the ratings, it says "E" for everyone with "Comic Mischief & Use of Alcohol". So they rather have drugs over love in a game? I find that a little strange don't you think?
When California overturned proposition 8, I found great quotes that also relate to what I'm saying here:
"Today, we recognize that marriage is not a privilege reserved for a select class of citizens, but a right that belongs to all Californians."
"Same-s.e.x couples throughout California and across the country have for far too long been told that their relationships are irrelevant or inadequate. But today in California, that finally changes."
Times are changing and people need to realize this.

Yeah I don't think it would happen. I'm not against it since I know there is people out there that wouldn't mind it but...like sakura said. The way America is, and the whole rated E thing, it just wouldn't work out. If it happened a lot of bad things could unfold.
EDIT: I don't know. Maybe nothing won't but...nevermind. I really don't know what to say. O_o

A video game targeted to children isn't really the best medium for a political statement. Don't misunderstand me: I'm a steadfast supporter of gay marriage, but brainwashing kids to any side of the political spectrum is wrong.
The Japanese version of DS Cute had the Best Friends feature where you could ostensibly marry a member of the same « Chicken Hugging », but it wasn't there as a political statement or anything like that; it was there so Marvelous could sell more copies of the game to Yuri fans.
EDIT: That being said, I would really like a same-« Chicken Hugging » marriage system, especially for games like GB, where I hate the female player character design, but like some of the bachelors. If I could be gay, it would be problem solved. Lesigh.

Having same « Chicken Hugging » marriage in it without pushing it saying LOL GET MARRIED TO THE SAME « Chicken Hugging » wouldn't be brainwashing children to be for it. Having the option only to marry the opposite « Chicken Hugging » seems like it would be a statement against more then anything rather.

No, I don't know. I'm not gay. However, that does make sense, especially considering that most homosexuals in the media are portrayed as stereotypes.HomoMoon wrote:I don't mean to be all political but I mean gay kids need role models and things like that, too. In any case, Japan isn't exactly the best place to turn if you want an open-minded view towards homosexuality. As hbi2k pointed out, with the exception of yaoi, most gays in anime are depicted as being horrible rapists (he starts talking about it about 4 minutes and 45 seconds into that video).

i don't think HM should have these same s e x marriages as there are lots of kids play HM games. even my little brother and he's only 10. i don't think they should be allowed to think its okay to be gay@lesbian since such young age. i mean, i don't despise such people, but, it doesn't mean its okay for kids to start thinking about them and might encourage these kids to be homosexual since young age. besides, if parents know of these, they wouldn't pay for these kind of games for their young children to play. the sales of HM games will does down. if you don't like the marriage candidates, just choose to play the other gender instead.
