Ok just got the game today and I felt I had to post this based on the old post regarding rival heart events. According to the HM: Grand bazaar manual included in the game: "You may find that there's another character competing for the object of your affections. Unlike in other Harvest Moon games, though, this rival will never steal your true love away. Rival couples will flirt and grow close, but they'll never get married."

I have not yet got a chance to experiment to see if they lock marriages after you see all of them, but I felt this should be given as some information regarding rivals.

Awesome, but the question remains, if your bachelorette/ bachelor you are trying to marry gets very close to your rival, and you ask her to marry you, will she accept? Because even if they dont get married the rival could still stop her from acepting your proposal.

I think it's that way.
Or there pretty much wouldn't be a need for rivals.
But maaaan, I liked it when they married :/

I agree its confusing. By the sound of it, it shouldn't stop you but then again..dunno guess we won't know until the website is updated or someone has found out for sure.

After the final (4th) rival event, you can't get married to whoever was involved in the event.
