cooked items in this GB - a thread for fun!

Would you eat them in real life if you made them? What do you wish you could add to a recipe (could be items in the game or not!) Any odd things? And what is your favorite?
Quite frankly I could go for some strawberry pie! Or some Farmer's Breakfast (why is it called that? i could see it as being my breakfast but i'm not a farmer o__o) although I wish i could add some bacon to that lol...
Anyone else find it odd that everyone in HM is pescetarian? There's so many animals around you could eat! But then again they're so cute haha
Some things I find odd.. pudding requires a frying pan?? so does chocolate and honey cake but not regular cake?? And trifle requires a frying pan... but you don't cook anything for trifle, well at least I don't, I just buy things and assemble! Some things make sense like okonomiyaki requires a frying pan but then yakisoba does not? Can you imagine what yakisoba was like if you just mixed cold soba with oil X___X And what kind of sandwich just has bread, cucumber, and tomato?
I love the fact that we can make Baumkuchen, pot stickers, quiche and okara! And i've always loved the picture for pancakes... it looks so appetizing!

even though I'm almost to year 2 (4 more days,, yeay... xD)
I'm not quite familiar with cooking, the only recipes I know are the simple ones. But, I do agree with you about pudding made from frying pan. Although, I don't really know how to make a pudding myself, ^.^
In grand bazaar, there aren't many cooking utentils, but too much of them would make me go mad. They're quite expensive, and I try to save money to buy more seeds & animals.
So I guess, 3 cooking equipments are enough.

Hmm do you know Gyoza, a Japanese dish?
It's fried dumplings, a popular Chinese and Japanese dish. :)

yah they're called potstickers because they tend to stick to the frying pan really well LOL but really they're just a fried dumpling, they're really tasty!! you should try some :D
I've always made my pudding with a pot not a frying pan so i'm still confused on that one x___x

No kidding.
But then this is Harvest Moon where cooking is totally wacko. If you tried to cook the same ingredients in real life, you may end up with inedible garbage or food poisoning. Talk about Failed Food.
I remember in one of the older HMs I tried to cook putting together things I know works IRL and ended up with black burnt food. Rather annoying to finally find the recipe was not even close.
Since the food is Japanese, I'll eat almost anything I cook in-game! (My char can for sure - even raw just caught fish that don't fit in the bag...)

I love to cook in Harvest Moon games. I always have, and cooking various dishes always makes me hungry. Years ago, when I used to play a lot of AWL, I used to want to eat sashimi and curry all the time, since I made both a lot, sashimi for moneys and curry to give to my lovely wife (Celia loves mushroom curry).
I also love to cook in real life, and I cook everything from scratch, so I appreciate that Harvest Moon requires you to do so as well. I sort of wish you were required to give at least one meal to your family once a day upon marriage, since I think that would be fun and cute. Usually by the time you get married your farm is set up so you can cook whatever you like, and you're done wooing your prospective beaus, so you have plenty of resources for it. I generally cook for my wife or husband and our baby each evening because it gives me something to do XD
About pudding: While fry pan may not make immediate sense, you do use a sauce pan or double boiler to make pudding. I make pudding all the time :) It is, after all, just milk and sugar and eggs (and a little vanilla). Since the game has no separate saucepan or double boiler, I think fry pan is a fine enough substitute. I think the pot is meant to be a big soup pot, so I would not choose to make pudding in that XD.
I think my favorite HM foods will always remain: curry, things with fish, like fish stew, and really delicious looking deserts.
As a side note, I actually really do love strawberry pie: a lost relic of my childhood X3.

Black eggs are delicious, though they don't come from chickens, they are duck eggs. Cooked with rice soup and pork and its the best.

I love brown chicken eggs though :) They're all I cook with. I'm amazed by all sorts of people who think the only color eggs chickens lay are white, and that other eggs are weird mutations or something :O

But white eggs in the US very often come from factory farms where poultry has no quality of life, whereas brown eggs are more likely to come from smaller farms. I get all my
eggs sourced locally, so I know where they come from, and they all happen to be brown XD.
Eggs from hens in factory farms have a tendency to be larger, with thinner shells and a yolk that's much easier to pierce. This makes them much more aggravating to cook with, IMO, since you have a harder time separating yolks from whites without piercing them. This is besides any ethical concerns.

Hah, well i am not chinese, i am vietnamese, my aunt loves making jook, and so does my mom,is that how its spelled, or you just spelling it how it sounds? But the best part of the dish is the egg, i usually steal it all, though my sister hates it, so i get her share as well.
Also the black eggs are not really black on the outside though it is a darker color.

I knew you were Asian, for sure. I'm Japanese actually. So jook is okayu (mom used to make it for me when I was sick). That's how it's spelled on the menus in Chinese restaurants here in Hawaii - tho I've never ordered it. =P

Interesting, well with jook, it sounds more like jouk, then jook, there is a uh sound near the end, i remember watching this video in home ec and this old white guy kept saying it wrong and it annoyed me to no end, you should try it, its pretty tasty.
