there is no way to determine what gender your baby is.
The gender of the child is set at the day of your wedding...so unless you plan on not saving for 30 days after your wedding and then re-setting if you get a boy...you just take what comes :P
here is a link explaining it :P

yeah and even at that, it still will be random. If you go for those 30 days and get a boy and reset, play for another 30 days and if you get a girl you're gonna want to go back and play those 30 days all over again. That means you have to reset to a save that wasn't on your wedding day so whenever you get to your wedding day it's determined all over again. There is really no way to force a gender in this game. There was a trick in HMDS/DSC but since you can't save on both diaries for one playthrough on IoH you can't use the same trick. You just have to hope you get a girl.

Yeah, but then you'd have to sell your animals, because they won't wait 30 days for you. Also, you'd probably have a lot of villagers leave because you "ignored" them.

yeah but as I've already said if you were to do that and you got the gender you wanted, you would have to reload to that save before your wedding and then at the wedding the gender is determined all over again. Unless you don't mind losing all your animals that you've worked so hard for, get to 10 hearts, and all that jazz.

xD yeah it's pretty useless and the fact that it takes FOREVER for it to get out of the crib. I think it's two years but I'm not sure. I know I'd become bored waiting. I know my friend pretty much lost it with waiting whenever I found how many years it took and told her.

It's 2 years, and kind of a waste of time, because if you have nothing left to do. I completed the game, and then got married... So basically I was sleeping and wasting time, for 2 whole years!!! Then it takes another 2 years for them to start walking. Kids are kind of a hassle. But I guess as an end result they are fine. But it's too bad they don't grow up...

If they grew up and helped your farm, that will be a moving experience. *Sniffle* And I thought we'll be young forever.

But all in honesty, I wouldn't advise you going through that process unless you're ready to lose everything by sleep for 30 days and rebuilding all your friendship with your villagers and so forth.
