I'm not much of a cooker (yes, cooker) unless it's for giving to someone so the cooking contest won't be very fun for me. But I do like crops; Konahana sounds like a good place to live.

pssh 8 months? that's nothing. I've been waiting for "Star Wars: The Old Republic" for almost 2 years now XD They announced that back in '08. but I guess it being an mmo makes a big difference :3

I do agree though that we won't get an English announcement for awhile. I mean, we just got the TT one and that came out awhile ago.
(speaking of TT, I'm excited for it for the sole purpose of marrying "Kamil" for some reason I really like guys that like cats ^^ and apparently he likes them :3 also, about the cooking..I LOVE cooking in HM and RF games. it's one of my favorite things to do ^^ so I think I'll probably enjoy TT :3 )

I'm kind of disappointed to see that only Joe and Electra have parents in this game. I love when the marriage candidates have a family. :3 I feel it adds to their character, especially if their family members talk about them.
I never really understood the lack of parents in the RF games. Any that do have parents have only one. :/

Reason for lack of parents: laziness since they don't have much of a part. Which is even harder in RF games where they have a GIANT selection of girls to marry.

But yes, I agree that it is nicer to have full families. Which is why I liked N64 because they had a few full families and there were only a few unanswered missing family members.

I always thought that was weird too. Everyone who had any form of parents generally only had one. I believe in RF2 (maybe) There was a couple who were married, but then divorced. Something to that effect. That's as deep as I can remember RF going into the family relationship.

In RF2 there are quite a few full families, in the second generation . And in RFF Eunice had both her parents there. That was amazing .

Hey so... I just recently got RF:Oceans. I'm not exactly literate in moonspeak, but I've got a strong enough ability I can translate a lot without a dictionary. I've literally only played the game for about thirty minutes, but from what I can tell, it's a vast improvement over the previous RF for Wii. I wondered where my farm was, and after a little investigation on the internets, I found out I don't even get one until later. Kind of shocking for a farming based game...

But anyway, since this thread is so big, I was hoping if I could ask for some basic advice from players who've gotten a bit further in. Any important things I should know? Are there any dates/items I should keep track of? Of the girls you can marry, are there any important items I should be aware of that they like? Oh and, what the heck are you supposed to do for your first request? Talk to everyone like you had to in RF3?

I feel like I'm the only one who loves cooking in HM and RF games.... ^_^;

In fact, when it comes to skills, cooking always ends up being maxed out first. It isn't intentional, but that's bound to happen when you make a lot of sashimi and salmon rice balls!

Well I know a long time ago favorite items and birthdays of the marriage candidates were listed. But I can't remember any of them, sorry .

Most of the people who have actually played the game don't post here much anymore .

I wish you learned more about the characters back round. In RF games you mostly learn about their present and what they want in the future. And only small parts of their back round.

Sometimes they don't even talk about their future :p

I don't know why they haven't given their characters more of a background yet. There are some really interesting characters that I'd love to know more about.
