He's asking for 1 Amethyst and 5 Mining Stones.

Although you will get a reward from that quest (I got some nice teas), the REAL reward is that you will "level-up" Shen Lo so that he can upgrade your watering can beyond level 5. The max is level 7. So definitely do that quest!

Are you having trouble getting a 2-star amethyst? Or are you having trouble getting enough mine rocks?

Make sure that when you break a mine rock, you can get an ore, any ore, that's 2 stars or higher. The ranks are fixed so you will ALWAYS get the same rank when you break the same rock. You will be able to get higher-level rocks in later years. Read my post here for more details.

This is probably obvious but to get an amethyst, break your rock first thing when you wake up, and reload if it's not an amethyst. I found it faster to break 2-3 at a time. Sure you waste a few, but man it was taking forever to get an amethyst. If while breaking you happen to get some mithril, adamantite or diamond, save up to 3 of the first two and 1 diamond since you'll need them for upgrades 6 and 7 and for the hoe upgrade.

As far as getting more mine rocks, you can reload your game on rainy/snowy days to get a better shot at finding one in the waterfall area. Spring is the easiest. Don't forget to check that area that's only accessible in winter, too, especially on snowy days.

2 stars amethyst is not a problem cuz now is 3rd year. and also thanks !!
