[Character Names] - Natsume .vs. Original Japanese

Hello,

I'm new on this forum (but a long time HM addict), so pardon me if this has already been posted somewhere on here (if so please tell me and feel free to remove it).

My friend and I recently had a disscussion on how Natsume frequently re-names the characters in HM games (though on occasion they stay the same). Since Twin Islands has yet to be released in North America we were contemplating on names that would fit the characters if they were changed from the original japanese names.

So far we have only done alternate names for Kamil. So feel free to add on tot he list or suggest names for any of the other characters.

Both my friend and I feel that thanks to the way Kamil's character is designed, that a Britsh/English name would suit him best. Also that Bluebell seems to have a bit of a British feel to it almost.

Adam, Avery, Basil, Benjamin, Brad, Caelan, Colin, Damian, Deion, Edmund, Eric, Galen, Julian, Kaden, Kameron, Kyle, Miles, Nathaniel, Oliver, Theo and Tristan

}} By personal preference I like Benjamin, Caelan, Basil, Miles, Theo and Kaden best. However I am fine with the others listed.

I could see Basil easily, but I think that was also the name of a Mineral Town character. I like Oliver, but I think that's more of a personal preference.

I'm kind of wondering if they're going to try and keep the "oriental" feel or whatever you want to call it for the Konohana villagers (Licorice and Dirka are the exceptions). I could see them potentially keeping some of the names the same, if they do.

I don't remember there being a character named Basil in Mineral Town games (and I own them both). So i looked it up and there is a character named Basil in Magical Melody though. xDDD

But yeah I hope they keep at least some of the original names (they generally did in the Mineral Town ones), but I don't mind changes so long as they fit. xDD

I agree with liking Oliver (though the only reason its not a top pick is the name makes me think of a younger boy rather then elder like Kamil). xD

I'm still trying to think of names for the other characters too. xD

Maybe something more mature, but still plant related? Linden/Lyndon/Lyndonn, Reid, or something.

Oh, and MT Basil was Mary's dad. The guy who really liked plants.

Rudgar-->Edgar? Granii's probably has to go, but Howard's must stay. Airin being interpreted as Eileen?

That definitely makes sense. I think that's how it would sound.

Some others:

Lia: Lisa? Then again, it could just be Leah, which I think would be nice.
Ash: Could stay the same. Maybe a different "A" name, though, like Aaron or Alan
Licorice: Maybe something similar-sounding, like...Lucretia? xD

There's already an Irene in Harvest Moon. Pick a new name!



Technically, there is already a Kirk as well, but he is the boatman from Sunshine Islands and doesn't have a character portrait.

I dont really play past editions of HM, but then again Im playing ToT. So Gil can be some random name. But I kinda like it to be Gil, or Gill its cute and suits him well. YEAH
