So since he isn't on the island a lot, do I still have to wait a certain amount of time to give him gifts? or is he special and accepts the gifts right away?

You should be able to give him gifts straight away.
I managed to do it in my game.
You won't lose the item if he rejects it anyway.

yeah I am pretty sure that you can give gifts to him right away. And I guess I should know since I married him twice lol

yeah, and try to unlock the rice fields asap so you can make porridge, his fave.

In IoH you can give all of the characters gifts right away. It's only in SI that you have to wait (though you can still give Vaughn a gift on his birthday, and- I'm not sure about this, mind- I think if you do you'll be able to give him day-to-day gifts sooner than you otherwise would have)

Actually ,i found ut that in Sunshine islands ,if you give him something n his b-day ,you can give presents to him without havng to do five days worth of talking first I have a question of my own! in IoH: d the rivals need to do the heart events in order? (i shouldn't have used the mine so soon ,year 2 heart level: blue) (I can't get enough of these emoticons)
