How do you chose your names?

My character, for a girl, is always Mei, or Mel. For a boy, it's always Dex, because that was my characters name on Suikoden 2.
For animals, I always look at the default names and go from there, same with my farm names. :D

In AP, there is. They're usually just normal names, but I believe they're generated randomly.

For first files I'll put my name.
If its a second/female file I'll put a name I wish I had or someone I emulate.

Farm names are anything.
Animals are in groups, like characters from a series.

For my character I used to change it, but now I usually stick w/the default name.

For animals it's all about random themes. Like ToT barn animals were named after types of dressing (Italian, ranch) and coop animals after condiments (ketchup, mustard, BBQ). The horses tend get special names outside the themes.

Children names are names I just like at the time though I'm starting to put a little more meaning into them.

for the girl MC's is 'Silver' and now all my farms are 'Mirror' as well. if i play as a boy it's either default or Marcus.

my animals are random put-it-out-your-« Mr.Gourmet's hat » names like Goo or Opi or Gab. i take a little time, though with dogs/cats/horses and give them normal names like Molly or Moon or Luna.

childen i take a lot of time. my fav, for a girl is Rachana now and for a boy it's Lawrence (if fit) or Kyle or Elden.

If I'm playing a girl I always name my character Liza but the name Hikaru has been creeping up on my main character name.

For a guy, it's the default name.

My farm is always named Lake in memory of my first HM game(AnWL).

Animal wise, my first cow is always named Teri. The rest of the cows are random. Ducks are named after characters from Princess Tutu, Chickens are the girls from Naruto(although this will probably change since I don't like Naruto anymore). Horse is usually named Spirit but if it isn't brown I give it a name to suit the coloring.

For my kids, I usually use the name Hikari for a girl and a random name I think of for a boy.

Protagonists; Lizzie for a girl, Lucas for a boy.
Children... Usually a name that means something that relates to their parent. Like I'll marry someone calm and I'll find a name that means something like calm. xD
Chickens, things you can find in your kitchen. Kettle and Spoon anyone? ;D
Cows... Heifer, Bessie, Daisy, Cow, along those lines.
Sheep I name after RL friends.
Dog is always Hiro, Cat is always Kenta

I usually name it after someone: a TV character, an actress, a friend. I normally use Lusie Farm, after my friend, Hannah; and Tate, Vana, and Gaia are also farm names I use typically. ^^ For kids, I knock around stuff. I have this OCD thing, no one in the family may be born in the same season and no one may have the same first initial. Drives me nuts. >:|

Default names, except in games where we don't have them/don't know them (like GrB and TV), which annoys me to no end. In those, however, I went with themed names. So in GrB they are wind themed,and my farm is named Luft (after the Japanese fannon boy name), and in TV I went with Tsuruko (crane-child, might of been Suruko, I forget which I typed XD) and yuki ranch (snow, like in the fable). For the boy I did something about tanuki, but I can't recall what. XD

I always put my name if I'm playing as a girl, and as a boy I just pick a name I like. For a while I would just use whatever I wanted for all the other names, but sometimes there are themes: In Tree of Tranquility I named everyone some sort of Roman name (Aurelia, Claudia), and in Animal Parade I named everyone after characters from Harry Potter .

I pick my names by the people I marry. If the marriage cadidates name start with "V" then my characters name will start with v and so will my animals, children, farm, etc. I pretty uch do this for every game since I already know who I'll marry before I actually play. On a couple of occasions I will pick names that somehoe connect to my husband. An example: I married the harvest King in AP so I gave everything fire related names

If playing as a girl: Rebecca (because that's my real name), or Becky if it doesn't fit.
If playing as a boy: I change it every time. I always choose whatever comes to mind when I look at that character. xD And it has to be a boy's name I really like. And I refuse to use the same name twice. o3e
Farm/Ranch: In Harvest Moon games I always name it Sunny Farm/Ranch. In Rune Factory games, I always name it Moon Farm.
Daughters: I have a lot of girls names that I really like, so I always just pick the one that I think suits it the best. I'll never use the same name twice, no matter what.
Sons: I always have a hard time with this, but pretty much whatever name I think suits him. Again, I never use the same name twice.

My animal names are always changing, so I won't even bother to list those.

I use my name (or nickname) since I usually play as a girl. If I'm playing as a guy, then I'll think of a random name that sounds nice. If nothing comes up then I'll just steal some idol's name or something. There are times when I used my dog's name too.

For the animals, I usually pick a theme. For cows it's usually flower names. I named them after my RL friends in Rune Factory though. Sheep names would be after princesses, and chickens.. in AP I named them after the Greek deities.
