I'm a big fan of ToT / AP because of the characters, so I want more characters like that. The new DS HMs have such bland characters I couldn't keep playing after the first year ends. It feels like living in a village filled with robots. More interesting characters with depth would be great.

Also, more random events please. The villagers events back in BtN was nice, but the newer HMs have little to none. Socializing won't be fun either if the villagers say the same thing everyday.

..and yes, making sure that characters personalities carry over well in translation. Removing some parts of the dialogues will also remove some of their personality. Luke.. ;_;

I don't really mind the other aspects (story, music, etc.). As long as the game have great characters and interactions, it'd be enough to keep me playing.

Well, here are my ideas:

1. More involved storyline.

2. Longer storyline (I finished RF 2 and pretty much all of the HM games and then asked 'now what' basically. It got boring to quickly)

3. More than two or three saved files.

4. Return of the ability to save a single game on more than one file (that is very annoying)

5. More involved courting. I cant be the only one disturbed by the way you court your love interest.

6. On the topic of love interests, how 'bout some gay pairings? I gaurantee if you made a yaoi or yuri themed HM it would sell pretty quickly (I mean, come on, arent a majority of the people playing these games Yuri or Yaoi fans? At least, the portion of the fandom I see seem to be)

7. Bigger diversity of Love interests. Seriously, I keep seeing the same types of girls/boys in EACH game. The difference? Mainly appearance. Lets have some more diversity people!

8. More dialogue for the NPC's. I sometimes hate befriending villagers becouse their normal dialogue is so annoying compared to the dialogue they have in random events (or heart events)

9. I would like it if my animals wouldnt die after a few years. I know this is supposed to be realistic and all, but my cow should live more than 6 years before it keels over (it has happened)

10. Your child (if it gets to the adult stage) should be allowed to have a love interest and move off the farm. I just think it is a little creepy sometimes if you are playing, say, DS or DS cute and your kid looks like the age you do, and hasnt made any attempts to get a boy/girlfriend or move off the farm (or help you)

11. Aging sprites/avatars/whatever. This was my biggest issue in RF 2 (and why I woudlnt court Cammy or Roy) and among HM games in general. Im in year 30 and me and my husband dont look like we are a day over 18. That bugs me. I wanna see a handome middle aged man and his beautiful middle aged wife! Let them have some aging art!

12. An actual end to the games in general would be nice. Your character, on average, is about 18 when they take over the farm right? so why is it that 70 years later you are still young and working? (my friend has a file that is to year 100 I think) I think there should be a cap limit on the years you can play (like say.... 50 years? maybe 40?)

13. As with everyone, deeper NPC's. It would be nice if they had a more involved portion of the storyline and gameplay, instead of just kinda being there. Expecially your family. After you get hitched, your spouse and kids do basically nothing (though your spouse does help you on the farm in Animal Parade if I heard correctly) and your spouse (if they work) brings home no money.
That. Bugs. Me. Why cant the spouse bring home a daily profit if they are working? Why must I still bust my butt to make the money and put food on the table? This is starting to sound like a rant, but I would like more personality in the characters, expecially your kids, and more help on the farm after you get hitched (or for my spouse to finally bring home a friggin check)

14. Genetically correct children. If you are a blonde and marry a guy with silver hair your child should not come out as a red head (thanks DS Cute for that example) Animal Parade tries to cure this by making the child look like your spouse, and in RF 2 at least the kid takes after the father, but still, wouldnt it be nice if the kid looked like both the mother and father? How hard could it bee to make sprites like that? I dont think it would be to hard myself. If not that, at least be a bit more carefull with the hair and eye color.

15. Better interaction with animals. DS and DS cute had a great idea with that pet glove thing that would let you pet it with a sylus, but I would like to have more interaction with my animals and pets. Only being able to feed, brush, and talk to them (along with sheering and milking them) seems a little shallow to me, since actual farmers would spend a lot of time caring for their animals.

16. More realistic farming. By that I mean, I would like it if the crops arent so restricted by seasons. All our plants dont just die when summer or winter hits, so I dont really see the reason (aside from technical issues) that this has to happen ingame. It would be nice if I could keep my plants growing all through the seasons until winter. Oh, and I would like a bigger selection on crops to. Maybe have a rotation on which crops you can buy each year? I mean, actual farmers have to rotate the crops or give their land a bit of time to recover so they dont over use the soil, so I think that should be added to the game to (not the 'break time' thing, really, but having to rotate which crops you should/could grow to not overuse the land)

I probably kept going back to the same point again and again. Oh well.

^ You sounds like a fan of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. Or maybe you haven't played. It's just a lot of the features you mentioned reminded me of that game :).

For me I just want stuff you keep you playing longer. And not the "you have to wait until year three to get this thing" sorta of stuff. Because that just makes me angry. Like a long story-line and events to get. Grand Bazaar I was done with in less than two (in game) years.

I want better villagers. It seems all the (little) effort is being put into marriage candidates and the villagers are even more boring than ever. I think I heard TV has interesting villagers so I'm hoping that's true.

I have never actually played A Wonderful Life, I simply wanted a more indepth storyline and characters (and interaction with pretty much everything)

A 'Gay Option' would also be prefferable (since I myself am bisexual and hate having to make a new saved file as a boy just to marry the girl I want. Or have to buy a whole new friggin game) I'd be willing to pay 30 bucks for a Harvest Moon game that is released in America with the Gay Option intacked (and not that crappy 'Best Friends' option they had in DS cute that they took away, I mean have pretty much all the love interests, unless stated otherwise, being able to go either way) That would be a fun game (and start a whole new level of ship-to-ship combat in the fandom XD)

I wouldn't expect a gay option to ever happen in HM games. If they did implement one, you can be damn sure that Natsume would remove it to the best of their abilities during the translation process like they did with that lazy best friend system. Regardless of how many fans who are involved in fandom would enjoy an option like that, they still want the games to be "family friendly" since a lot of children with close-minded parents do play HM.

Yeah, but I noticed a trend that the games are starting to get a little more 'grown up' in a way (or make one that is obviously an adult or older teen game. I know younger audiances play this game, but you woudlnt know this if you looked at the fandom in general)

I just want the option, as do many many other fans of the game. I am pretty sure Natsume's sales on the game would go up if they did (My friend had a petition sent to Natsume about it a while ago. Got around 1000 signatures. Since the option isnt in Twin Villages/Towns/whatever I am taking a guess and saying they ignored it. She is gunna try another petition soon with more signatures if she can get them)

Oh well it's just in that game all the characters age, the children have good genetics, the farming is more realistic, the game has an ending, your children grow up and eventually get a crush on someone, your child can move off the farm at the end of the game, and their dialog is random and not the same thing everyday (although there really aren't that many lines).

And those were some of the things you mentioned so I immediately thought of that game. It was one of my favorites. But the chapters were too long :?.

I dont have the system to play it, or I probably would XD My friend listened to me griping about this and told me I would love A Wonderful Life becouse it has a lot of the stuff I want.
