Can you (the Anonymous Fish) translate this one too: 水牛は、1頭までです。守れない場合御手伝い、ご遠慮ください。
Well, Google translate it: "Buffalo is up to one head. Damage may help, please." Oh well, that person refuse write English but I guess he doesn't like people help his Water Buffalo right? Right now I'm not help his Water Buffalo anymore though.
Anyway, quiche send this message for a few time: "どーぞ プレイヤーメッセージをお読み下さい". I translate his farm message and you know, you can't really understand his problem if you didn't know Japanese well. So I send back PM like: "Please write in English because I'm not understand Japanese". But he ignore it.
Today I got this: "お手伝いして頂かなくて結構です。" Google translate it: "頂Kanaku is fine to help you." huh?
So again, I send PM ask him use English: "Again, please write by English or something Google can translate it, I can't understand your message." to explain what he need, but I got this: "どーぞ 日本語で日本語も出来る様ですので 嫌がらせでしようか" well, since I'm not understand what he need so...
Anyway, I still need to get the Second Collection Item from Emperor Penguin (maybe) but I'm only know his farm have many of them, so I must keep help his farm at 5:00 AM until I get one, only one. It's for collection information for the guide, not for my own profit. Even if he get angry but I'll apologize later (I'll send him new PM now).
Back then, some people even ask me stop help their Pumpkin because my farm only have 10 Pumpkins, so I do like they said (except someone use rude words so I'm not like to do whatever they said). Well, my farm out of space to plant more Pumpkin, but I still leave some so people can get collection. There is someone even tell me stop click his Rank 3 Animal because my farm only have few Rank 3 Animal, he even lie that I help his Water Buffalo but actually he didn't have any Water Buffalo. What I help on his farm that day is Panda (which not really hard to get). And he even forget that in the past I'm often visit and help his Holstein and it doesn't like I'm only help his Rank 3 Animal.
By the way, though this Game is for Japanese only but it'll better if they explain by English for people not know Japanese (or the Japanese not good with English? I don't know).
Top at all this is the staff fault, if they aren't release Min-Box only animal (like the big cat, Capybaras, and Emperor Penguin...), so I'm not need to make those people get angry by help their Rank 3 Animal.

I wanted to say sorry for sounding so angry here earlier. I was having a bad day and used the forum to vent, but that wasn't polite of me. Sorry!
DAC, do you mind if I try translating the short messages? I actually understand them a bit, and the reason I didn't think about what Fish said regarding the times was because I posted before I thought to check their farm message to fully understand it. I forgot that what I called "Farm Description" was actually called "Player Message." Feel free to ignore this though! But I figured the Anonymous Fish might not even come back, or be back anytime soon, so maybe I could help.
If you do mind, feel free to ignore my translations! If Anonymous Fish returns I am sure s/he can do a much better job. (I just can't resist because I am studying to be a translator and it is good practice.) I know the middle two are right, but the first and last might be a bit incorrect.
"水牛は、1頭までです。守れない場合御手伝い、ご遠慮ください。"
There is only one water buffalo. I'm not positive on the second part, but I think is along the lines of "please don't help it due to these circumstances."
"どーぞ プレイヤーメッセージをお読み下さい".
Please check (my) Player Message. (Meaning the one on his farm where he wrote requesting people that are not in his circle or friend’s list to wait until 6am to help his farm.)
"お手伝いして頂かなくて結構です。"
It is all right if you don’t help me.
"どーぞ 日本語で日本語も出来る様ですので 嫌がらせでしようか。"
I am afraid I am not sure about this one. I think he is asking why you play a Japanese game if you don't speak it. But there are some kanji I don't know, and my dictionaries don't have it. Sorry!

Haha, about the Water Buffalo one, his farm even have 6 or 7 Water Buffalo.
And I understand quiche mention to read his' Farm Message, the problem is I can't understand his' Farm Message (which the Fish explain above). But now everything clear.
Some message I put in Google translate like "I want you to help something..." but actually that person mean "I don't want you to help something..." it's funny translation, and I got blamed after that when they explain by English.

I'm the Anonymous Fish who posted earlier.
I'll try to translate the messages you got. If you get anymore, please post them, and I'll try to translate those, too. I don't read this board every day, but I do read sometimes. So, I'll try to help out when I can. My Japanese/English may not be 100% perfect but should be pretty close.
水牛は、1頭までです。守れない場合御手伝い、ご遠慮ください。
"(Please only help) up to one water buffalo at a time. If you can't follow this, then please refrain from helping at my farm."
In other words, it would be nice if you just help up to one water buffalo per day. But if you keep helping more than one, then the person would rather you not come at all. I think they want to give other people a chance, too, so they try to limit the number people can help to one per day. So, if they have three water buffalo, three people can help in one day instead of just one.
どーぞ プレイヤーメッセージをお読み下さい。
This one is, as the other poster noted: "Please read my player message."
お手伝いして頂かなくて結構です。
"I don't need you to help out at my farm."
This is a polite way of saying, "I'd prefer if you didn't come to my farm" or "Please don't help my farm anymore."
どーぞ 日本語で日本語も出来る様ですので 嫌がらせでしようか。
"You write/play in Japanese, so it looks like you can understand Japanese. So, are you just trying to pretend you don't understand or something (just out of spite)?"
"嫌がらせ" is a way of saying, "you're just doing that to be mean" or "you're just doing that out of spite." Like trying to act nice but really being mean. He may think you really do understand Japanese but pretend not to so you can keep helping his farm.
If you want to write him a message to explain, you can write something like this:
It says something like:
"I am sorry for bothering you. I had an acquaintance who can read/write Japanese write this message for me. I cannot read/write Japanese myself very well, so there is a lot I don't understand. I am trying to collect all of the collection items for a collection guide I'm making for other players. I need the Emperor Penguin item for the guide, and that's why I clicked on your Emperor penguin. I'd like to continue helping your Emperor Penguin until I receive the item. Would that be OK? If not, then I'll stop. Thank you very much for your help."
Actually, it's kind of surprising, but there are a lot of Japanese people who can't understand English at all. Even though most people study English in school for at least three or six years, many don't like English at all. And once they leave school, they usually stop. A lot of people get uncomfortable if you try talking to them in English (or even just look like you might speak to them in English). There aren't many chances for people to use English in Japan. And most people probably don't feel they need to know it, so they don't even try.
I think the sunflower (himawari) and pumpkin (kabocha) events kind of set a lot of people off. For example, there are people who have three or four witch cats (ネコ(ウィッチ)) and other Halloween items from the Pumpkin Event, but they didn't plant a single pumpkin themselves. So, they got over 1000 ghost cookies from helping other people's farms, but they didn't leave any pumpkins for people to help. There have been a lot of complaints about this. I think most people prefer a give-and-take kind of relationship.
A lot of people have blamed the sales team (the makers of the game) for this, though. They set up the events so you need collection items, so people kind of go crazy visiting farms and trying to collect the event items. A lot of people probably want to get a cat, too, especially if they didn't get any cats from the MinBox.
Sorry if I got kind of upset/sounded angry before. I guess we all need to remember it's just a game, right?!
Anyway, hope that helps some.
Sorry again for the long post.

Aha! So that post did say "out of spite". It seemed so strange to say so I thought I must have misunderstood. Hmm... It seems I have a lot of phrases to learn. Sorry for my bad translations; I just couldn't resist trying, especially since I got some of those messages too. (I also probably shoudn't try to translate at 3AM.

)
Fish, may I ask if you have any recommendations for a good kanji dictionary or program? I have a few that my college recommended but they do not have kanji that seems to be used colloquially much (and I mostly use Kanji Sonomama which I bought in Japan). Sorry to bother you and thanks for the help!
Also that's good advice, too. Sorry I caused so many problems.

Wow I guess I'm kind of surprised I've only received one of these messages then. o.o I definitely did a lot of goose-clicking a few weeks ago for that crazy feather quest.
Muse, I do some translating too, and I use
Jim Breen for almost everything.
This tool is really handy too.
Google translate is not bad either, though I completely ignore the sentence it generates, and instead I scroll over and read the word-by-word translation. It's a LOT faster than looking up each word individually.
In addition to blaming the developers for making the animals so hard to get, we should also blame them for making the character limit on messages so short! It might be why people are so short and grumpy-sounding in those messages. There's not room for politeness.

I feel bad because I got a PM from quiche with him being apologetic too. Hopefully my reply was understandable and also apologetic enough.
Anyway, it seems much easier to fit more in in Japanese than in English. But I agree, the messages are still far too short. Someone sent me a really long one once and I still don't know how they did it.
Sito, thanks for the links! Those look really helpful! I had no idea I could put the whole thing into google and get a word by word translation either. I always copied individual words.
I need 44 more pumpkins to get the pumpkin pig. I hope I can get it. I also don't know if I want to age p my witch cat or not... the kitten is just SO cute.

I wish I can help you get enough Ghost Cookies to trade for Witch Cat, unfortunately today is Halloween day, so many Web Game I joined have Halloween Event, so I'm busy with them.
But there are still two days left. You still have another chance tomorrow (the maintain time is 10:00 - 15:00 Japan time, maybe it's 8 AM for you, Muse.
Today I helped 6 Emperor Penguins but still no drop, so sad...

That's nice of you to say DAC, but it is okay. I can find a way, I think! (And I got my cat now! Just trying for the pig and am over halfway there!)
I have classes that end right when maintenance starts. Maybe I can bring my laptop and farm. XD When HMO resets the help on farms (which is 5:00AM Japan time, right?), it is 1PM where I am. My last class ends at 1:15. I could probably get on by 1:30 if I go to a coffee shop.

(Sadly it takes an hour and a half to get home from my campus, so I would not be able to get online until 3:00 my time if I waited until I got home.

)
So we have... 5 hours from reset time to maintenance time right? That is a bit of time.
Sorry to hear about the penguins.

I hope you get the items soon! By the way, I am curious, DAC, do you like the Rank 3 animals?

Many Japanese people dislike you.
On the other hand, it squeezes on a target, and is very unpleasant.
To those who have forgotten the feeling which sympathizes with a partner, Japanese people never open the heart.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. I have several Japanese friends on this game who enjoy communicating with me in English. I don't think most players mind that players outside of Japan are playing. I also don't think Moog games minds all that much. They could easily block IPs outside of Japan, but they don't. And most of us have bought SP in the past so we are not just freeloaders.
As for the clicking of rare animals at reset time, it seems everyone does it, not just us. The difference is I don't think any of us bother translating all of the farm messages, so unfortunately we don't notice it if someone asks us not to click. Once we realize our error I am sure we all stop.
Basically I don't see the harm in our playing.

^ You got the point there.
Myself have many nice Japanese players in my Friend list though we never communication but sometime they even send PM to thank me for help them. Some of them even help me everyday though maybe that day I'm so tired and can't help them back.
My method of help is different depend other, with people in my Friend List, I'm often help things they need most (for example, I read in Muse's Message said: "Alpaca so cute" so I focus to help the Alpaca in Muse's farm, in sito-jaxa's farm I often help those long time like Hostein, Horse, Pig or sometime things that have Sprites working on).
For people in my Bookmark, I'm only help the Rank 3 Animal if I need Collection Item (sometime for guide, sometime for Trade Shop, and it's include information for the guide too), after get enough thing I need, I'll help them like people in my Friend List.
But sometime people really quick to help all Rank 3 Animal in my Bookmark, so I follow their Bookmark to see if other people have things I need and help, of course maybe some of them get annoying and send PM and ask me stop, I'll do as they said if they explain it clearly and polite (of course I'm always try to translate by Google first, if I can't understand, I'll send PM ask them write in English).
The offer not come my farm just start recently when I need to collect Pumpkin, but the problem is if I visit them late, no Pumpkin for me, if I visit them early, not like everyone plant Pumpkin so I help their Animal instead. Personally I'm not think help Rank 3 Animal is big problem because like you see my farm only have a few Rank 3 Animal but many people still visit and help me everyday, so why those people need get angry if their Rank 3 Animal helped? I think they just selfish and not many Japanese people like that.
And I just got enough Ghost Pumpkin for one Cat, Pig, Mouse. It's not like I have a bunch of Ghost Pumpkin, right?
Right now I'm focus to get some Sheep and Pig Rank 3 so they'll have something to help, but for "freeloaders" like me it's take loooong time to get one Rank 3. So please don't blame me.
By the way, the event drain out my energy and I get sick already, I need rest for a few days, sorry if I can't visit you guys...

Many of the people on the game are quite nice to me, actually. I used to ask for help practicing Japanese, and I got many many nice letters to help me. :D
Also everyone does click at the reset time, at least those that are on (which is a surprisingly high number given the time it resets in Japan is 5AM). And as for what I help, it depends on if I have a quest. If I need many collection items, I focus on that, otherwise I try to help long-time items like alpacas and bears. And I personally try to have 5 of everything on my farm for people to help them. (Although I need to work on more animals.)
I think some people get angry because of the event and they want to farm much. DAC, do not worry; you are not greedy or anything. I have seen many farms with 3 witch cats but no pumpkins! And I hope you feel better soon.
I think on this game it is like all games: it is easy to focus on the people who are mean because we remember being hurt, but really there are more nice people. And I don't think it is bad if we play the game, since I know many people who play a US MMORPG I play and do not live in the US.
I think on the next event (maybe for Christmas or New Year's?) I will try to fill my farm with the plants so people can click it a lot.
I feel like they lowered the cookie drop rate in the last hours.

I helped 25 of the medium-sized pumpkins and got no cookies.
