Well, fish really have about as much in common with squid as they do with dolphins, which is basically that they live in the water. So a mermaid eating squid is no stranger than a regular person eating squid.

I'm the opposite of Pia, in that I'll eat fish (well, certain kinds of fish, like salmon, tuna, or flounder - no shark or swordfish) but not squid, as I insist my meat have a backbone (too much like chowing on a cockroach to me).

I guess I related them similar in that they are nonmamalian, unlike whales or dolphins, but I suppose you are right that they have more differences than similarities.

Still, I suppose it all seems odd to me. I suppose it always will, even if it makes more logical sense than I can see... XD
