A second generation would be great. I loved that in RF2. It's one of the many reasons that's my favorite RF game.
They really do need to make a plot that isn't about collecting stuff. IoH you "collected" tourist, SI = Sunstones, ToT a bunch of items for Rainbows, even AP had some collecting aspects. And do I even need to bring up DS/DS Cute .
I was glad Grand Bazaar didn't have any of that. But it turns out that was because there was pretty much no plot at all XD.
I don't really mind the collecting, provided the finding part doesn't interrupt the flow of the game, like it does in DS/C. I mean, one minute you're working your way through a bagful of crops, and then suddenly, BANG! Random Harvest Sprite.
That being said, I'd like them to come up with a plot that is present without being tedious, and keeps me interested. StH and HoLV managed that pretty well, but I'd also like it to be something they haven't done yet. "X years to evaluation!": done; "Collect x number of MacGuffins!": done; "Save the town/your grandpa's farm from being bought up by x company!": done. Collecting the rainbow recipes and ringing the bells was a little interesting, but I wish they'd managed to do it without the fetch quests.
Well Kameko how about one where you compete with a Rival Farmer (opposite gender?) for Shipping Rights/Bragging/insert better reason?
The interesting part about this is you could either Court them (shared farms), Best Friend them (Separate Farms), or win and they give up on being a farmer. A Twist could be you given up on being a farmer and found a new aspiration.
Story focuses heavily between you two and the events/answer you give will determine outcome of your rival and ultimately you the player character. Keeping with the pleasant tone of the series, none of the final outcomes are "Bad Ends" per say. Maybe a Sad Farewell will be the tip of the scale.
And it has all the things we all love about Harvest Moon in it. On all Consoles/Handhelds to share the joy
When I heard about the main story of "Twin Villages" I was hoping to see a rival. Sadly, there is no other farmers, except Ash, who is not really a rival.
Having a rival would be awesome! She would run a farm similar to mine and I would be able to see what kind of crops she has, what animals she bought and what parts of her farm she upgraded, hehe.
MM does have a rival system, although it's not part of the main story. Still, the plot is about collecting stuffs (music notes) and rescue goddess. They have abused "save the harvest goddess" plot (MM, DS/C, ToT) and I'm not really keen about that. Newer games tend to have too-made-up plot, something that differs them with older games, which have more "natural" plot, although they are less engaging and don't affect the gameplay that much.
Having a rival that really competes with you might be interesting. A rival that doesn't just show up and bragging about his/her farm. I want them to compete like which one that has more production, the highest quality, gaining reputation and trust from townspeople, and having a time limit to do that. It's not really a big plot, but it's still engaging and you don't have to worry about working on the main plot (like in AP).
A rival sounds like it could be interesting. I never really felt any "rivalry" between me and Jamie in MM; I just felt that he/she/it was a « Baaaa *glomp* ». They had that score thingy in the menu, but that was kinda... who cares. Making your rivalry the key focus of the game could be cool.
I loved having Jamie in MM. Being able to compete everyday was fantastic. And having someone else who really cared about winning the festivals was great. I would have liked that game a lot less if Jamie wasn't there and the only plot was collecting Notes (another collecting plot ).
It would make me so happy if they improved the rival feature. Or at least brought it back.
yes to rivals! also, (backtracking a bit) I kinda like the idea of not starting off with a house... it'd be interesting if you started out with just a room at an inn or something.
also also, I think it'd be great if they gave us some kind of second generation game to follow AP. I loved the rival kids, and unlike other games, they had... y'know... personalities. Heath was just adorable.
It would also be nice in a new Harvest Moon, it had some Animal Crossing elements in it.
The customization was a nice addition, and the whole treasure hunting/fishing/bug catching stuff.
Also someway to slow the timeflow, in every HM i played i rarely have enough time to do everything at first and only near the end of the main game (BtN) where i really had free time (and winter ).
Hopefully the new HM coming out had some of the ideas we placed out.

Yep! Living in tent or inn would be really original and interesting. Marvelous should try it sometimes.
I'm tired of plot where you have to collect something: sprites, sun stones, notes... c'mon. First it is fun but later getting annoying and frustrating. I have never unlocked the Sunny Island, because I really didn't like the idea of shipping 100 fruits etc.
Oh yes, I have idea - maybe we should have an internet? We would get some e-mails aka requests from villagers. In RF3 we had a mail box, so why we cannot have a computer? We would use it for getting info about crops, festivals etc. too.
I prefer the mail box. Just because getting mail is more special then getting an email .
Tree of Tranquility had one of the best introduction/tutorial ever. You started at the inn for a day, but then you got to stay at a Souffle Farm. That was great. I really came to love those characters after staying with them for two days.
The next game should do something like that except let you stay longer. Or let you have a few options of who to stay with.
I wouldn't like the idea of starting out at an inn at all. >.< I'm fine with starting out in a tiny shack, but I'd actually like to be living on the land I'm working at from the beginning.
I came up with a harvest moon game a long time ago, where basically people have abused the land and the harvest goddess gets fed up with it and attacks everyone. And the harvest moon farmers are to blame because they never did anything. So you have to go back in time and fix the farms. And every time you complete a mission (aka, bring back a farm) the land at your own time gets a little better, and you can bring back one person (bachelor, bachelorette, or a regular villager) after you save the last farm, you come back to your own town and you are informed that the harvest goddess is now peaceful again and living in a pond. After this you you can get married to any bachelor or bachelorette (depending on which gender you're playing as) you've brought back from a long time ago, or someone from the new cast of characters. And when you get back to your original time, it will be different because everything is modernized. And you can always start a mission (farm) over again after you complete the game. And after you get married, your child goes missing, and your spouse thinks it was messing around with the time machine and got lost in another time. And you have to do one final mission, but this time you can come back to your original time. wow that was really long. In case you're wondering, I've been thinking this up a long time.

I think I prefer when they flood 3 HM per years. Now I don't have anything to fantasize over
I agree. It is more fun when there is always a new game to be excited about.
But then it means that it may not be as good as it could be. By constantly giving us an HM game, they're just kind of not up to their full potential. HM comes out with games considerably fast but they all seem just a little like they didn't care about making a great game, but instead a bunch of decent games.
