I think you need to charge your tool (hold Y).

eh, and stumps need to be chopped 6 times, holding Y each of the 6 times, before it will give u ur lumber.

You can tell your Ax has been charged when the little marker showing where you're aiming (which can be turned on or off via the Select button) turns red.

hey does anyone know how much lumber a stump gives u??? cuz it would be very inconvenient if you have to waste a whole bunch of stamina on one stump...

You get 6 pieces of lumber from each stump. You can get more by equipping orange wonderfuls to the tool.

Put in 2 yellow wonderfuls then you only have to hit it 3 times!
