The festivals are set up the exact same way in every game. So it's not just bad luck. There is no way around it.

If you can't get Porridge then make sure to at least give him 500+ gifts. Like Milk.

Also get a Friendship Pendant. Hire Charlie to make one for you. It costs five Orichalc Ore. Then you can make an even better one later.

And I'm not sure but maybe showing him your Dog improves your relationship with him.

Vaughn takes a while but he's not that hard to get gifts for which is good.

It was pretty hard until I got the rice patties and could make porrige. Then it was pretty much smooth sailing...~~
I think I married him around my 3rd year? I don't remember exactly, I deleted the file. xD

I remember having such a hard time trying to marry him, haha. I didn't got to marry him, though. I wouldn't marry him, if I were you. He takes that time from you. I've married another guy.

I totally disagree. Vaughn is worth it.

He's like this little sensitive turtle. He is really stand-offish at times, but he really warms up to you.

But I'm not trying to convince you to marry him, now am I? I mean, you already decided to marry him.

Googaboga is right, you should give him milk. Talk to him every day and every festival and give him milk. It's really easy after you finally get his heart past the beginning stages.

The Friendship pendant you can do, but, it takes some work to make it.

Vaughn was always so hard to get! it took me forever just to get him at a purple heart! and then to a blue heart! uuuuugh! but that was on sunshine islands xD on ioh it took me until the end of year two to have a orange heart x| so i ended up just buying an action replay cause im a cheater x] but friendship pendents help alot! try to get large ones when charlie has them in stock! i had 3 large ones (i did cheat sadly to get them but its a good example of how good they work) and i had vaughn at a blue heart, after his blue heart even it skipped being green and went straight to yellow! so save up that orchilcum (or whatever its called!) it will make getting him so much easier! in the meantime, easy gifts like milk work very well :D

I was trying to marry another guy and happened to fish alot where Vaughn was,(by the Ocean) so I said hi to him. why not?
I usauly don't say hi to every one unless I want something from them, like on Sunshine Islands where I want sun stones, but if their easy to talk to, I do it out of bordom.

I married him. it wasn't hard at all

its so hard i givr him gifts every thur and fri im on my 3rd year and he's still on black heart
