Hi. So i recently started playing A Wonderful Life again. Ive been REALLY into it the past few days. I am determined to finish the game. And by my completionist standards, i need to FINISH the game not just get to through all the chapters. Meaning I need to buy everything, get all the items, become friends with everyone, and make all the recipes. (I even have a checklist haha!)

So Ive been playing pretty well so far. I made this list of all the 3rd gen crops required for all of the recipes (Because when i make the recipes for a HM game. I stock up on all the items I need, and make all the recipes at once.) then based on that info, find out how much 2nd gen crops I would need to make said 3rd gen crops, and for the recipes. And so on with 1st gen crops.

everything was going great. I had all my 1st and 2nd gen crops ready to go. The ones used for cooking were grown and placed in my fridge already and the remaining seeds were to be used to be hybridized into 3rd gen crops. Then I hit a MAJOR roadblock.

I was using Fogu's Hybrid Crop Generator, but realized that when it came to info on 3rd gen crops, It didnt help me because it did not list the combinations of each crop. So I cannot remember where I got the info on how many crops I would need to make each hybrid. After searching mulltiple websites, I found out that there is not A SINGLE website that has the same 3rd gen crops listed as another. Every website has a completly different list.

What I mean by this is that on Fogu, they have Rare Crop (3rd Gen) Hybrid #1 listed as the Red Lightbulb crop. But on HMOtaku they have #1 listed as a green crop with a top and bottom section to it. And on a FAQ Ive found online they have #1 listed as something totally different to THOSE TWO...

So my question is... how do I know what crop is supposed to be used in what recipe? Because if I am trying to make Rare Stew which required a Tomato, Rare Produce, and Hybrid #1. How do I know which Hybrid is the CORRCT hybrid? DO I use the lightbulb? The green thing? or something totally different?

Ive scoured the internet for the past 3 days looking for an official list. But i feel that now even that wont help me considering I started to name the Hybrids after their appearance and not "#01" ... I guess what im looking for is a recipe list that instead of listing the ingredients as "Hybrid #1", they list the ingredients as "Red Lightbulb Crop" or something to that effect. Im just totally lost and dont know how way off base I am anymore....

I think the listing problem is caused by the fact that the 3rd gen crops are player named and that there are multiple combinations for their creation. In my opinion, just experiment and you will eventually get all 24. If you are using the cooking recipes from ushi then use the 3rd gen numbering from ushi as well. You should be able to what 3rd gen crops you have by their appearance.

ok... so whatever the crop looks like when i grow it.... i should base it off of the Recipes from Fogu... but how do I know that the recipes on UNoT are the ones my game uses?

Like how do I know that MY GAME considers Hybrid Crop #1 to be the Hybrid Crop #1 that UNoT has listed, and not the Hybrid Crop #1 from HMOtaku?

I think you may be over thinking this so I'll try to use an example to help you.

Say you want to cook a Bean Bowl.
To make it you need 3rd gen crop #15.
Now you go to the crop list and select "No Name Specified 15".
You should now be able to identify the 3rd gen crop you need in game by using the pictures from the crop list.


P.S. You can predict what your 2nd gen crops will mix into using this.

maybe...but im just concerned because there is only ONE hybrid crop number one etc. If every site lists "Hybrid #1" as something defferent, how do I know which "Hybrid #1"will work for the recipe requires it...

So im saying if I based my recipe list off of HMOtaku's list.... that would mean I would have to base the 3rd Gen crops off of HMOtakus 3rd gen crops list as well, which is fine, but how do I know which list the GAME goes by... there can only be ONE CORRECT LIST!

If i checked 4 websites and 3 had the same exact list and the other had a different one, i would just assume that the three sites are correct and the last was false. But every site ive been to has a COMPLETELY different list than the others.

I hope I dont sound like I just repeated myself but the game doesnt know which site im getting my information from.

i think i made a slight breakthrough. I was just searching the internet, and i came across ANOTHER site with a 3rd gen crop list. I discovered that this list is EXACTLY the same as the crops list listed on UNoT. Fore example UNoT has the Hybrid #1 listed as the Red Light Buld. This site I just found has the Red Lightbulb listed as there Hybrid #1. So now I am MORE INCLINED to believe that UNoT has the correct list because another list coincides with it.

Another question though... How can so many sites end up with completely different lists? I know we have the ability to name them ourselves, but regardless of what we call them there is still only ONE hybrid #1 be it the red lightbulb or something different...

I think you're missing the point. The numbers are irrelevant outside of their respective sites. They serve only as an ids that the website author uses to represent the 3rd gen crops for the purpose of recipes, etc.

To use my previous example:

This 3rd gen crop will be the one that you will use to cook a bean bowl, regardless of what you number it, name it or even what order you create it.

The reason the sites have different lists is because rather than describing each 3rd gen crop by its appearance each time they refer to it the site author have given the crops generic names. There is no method or standard to the ordering.
On a side note, the reason that other site has the same list as Ushi is probably because they've use this site as a reference at best or ripped it off at worst.

So then how come UNoT has one of the ingredients to the recipe "Red Veggie" listed as Hybrid #12. UNoTs hybrid generator tells me that "Hybrid #12" is a gold/silver rock combo thing.

HMOtaku tells me that the Recipe "Red Veggie" uses Hybrid #12 also. But they have "Hybrid #12 listed as the Red Lightbulb Crop.

Same number hybrid, 2 different crops.

Does that mean I can use EITHER the red lightbulb or the gold/silver rock thing combo. And both would get me "Red Veggie" (granted I properly cooked it with necessary ingrediants etc.) Or would only the Red Lightbulb OR the Rock thing work?

That's probably just a typo. In this situation you should compare all the different sites to see which of the two they use in that recipe and assume the majority is correct. I'd say that the Red Lightbulb is the correct one because it fits in with the red veggie theme of the recipe.

Im going to probably assume that fogu does have the correct info. I was just overwhelmed because I thought I had it down to a science, figuring out EXACTLY how much of each 1st, and 2nd gen crops i would need to make all the proper amounts of crops, only to find that UNoT doesnt list the combinations for 3rd gen. it was all down hill from there, because not ONLY was my quantities wrong, (because other sites had different combos than what I assumed i had at the time) but also the crops THEMSELVES didnt match up...

I have tried making the recipies using the fogu recipie list and they don't appear to be correct. I have attempted many recipes using the 3rd gen crops from this list but they have all failed and some of them make me think they are incorrect because the names of the recipies don't seem to coincide with the hybrids being referenced. I used hybrid #12 as the gold/silver thing listed on this site but it didn't work and I have wasted a lot of 3rd gen crops this way. However I have been playing the special edition of AWL so I don't know if that changes things. The crop selling prices are different to the ones listed on the site too so maybe there are just differences with the special edition.

The hybrid crop generator was developed by me. The rest of the content was developed by another fansite and then sent to me before they closed down. So there may be differences.

The recipe for Red Veggie Salad seems to match up though (using hybrid #12), so you'll need to be more specific when you're saying a recipe doesn't work. As far as I am aware, the SE version of the game uses the same recipes as the Gamecube versions (both AWL and AnAWL).
