Why would a shield be important for short swords, but not long swords? D:
You can still get hit while weilding whatever weapon won't allow you to use a shield. :T

But, I don't know why they would take the shields out of the console games.
Unless, those are harder to program, and they just didn't feel like it. :L

They could have been useful in RFF, but you already get a bunch of armor slots to make up for them, I guess....
