Just a few questions

I'm having a bit of problem with this game.
See, I have a Harvest Moon DS Cute, Grand Bazaar, Rune Factory 1 and 3 and now this game. My cousin has an Island of Happiness though. Anyway, Of all the games I own, only this, Sunshine Islands, uses Wonderful Stones. Which utterly confuses me.
How exactly do you equip a Wonderful Stone? And how do you use a tool equipped with the stone? It doesn't work for me.
Then, here goes my animal problem. I would need to buy an incubator right? So... that means I can't hatch chickens yet? And, how exactly do I practice for the horse thingy?
I know that... well... I guess most of these things are in the in-game tutorial, but I can't follow at all!
Thanks in advance.

Talk to Charlie while he's behind the counter at Chens store. The game gives you a tutorial but if you've missed it or can't remember check the books inside your house for a refresher. Also make sure that you have a tool with empty equip slots. If you don't have one you can buy some from Gannon.

Equip it like a regular tool and hold "Y" to charge it.

If you don't have an incubator the you can't hatch chickens but you can still buy them.

Go to your stable and activate the sled that's behind one of the feeders to practise for the horse race.

Thanks for the information once again.
As for the charge part, I tried cutting lumber from a stump before but it didn't work.

To do that you need to make sure you have the proper Wonderful equipped to your tool. To chop a stump you need a Yellow Wonderful.

Well, orange wonderfuls are awesome so at least it wasn't a waste. Now, if you'd bought a purple wonderful... ^_^
Orange wonderfuls add an extra "item received" to the tools their equipped on. On an ax, an orange wonderful will give you 2 lumber for every stick you chop. On a hammer, two material stone for every rock you smash (or in the mine, two gems/ore/junk for every ore stone you smash!). On a hoe, two items for every one you dig up in the floor of the mine...and so on and so on.
So the more orange the better (though I think there's a max of 4 per most tools). But yeah, for chopping stumps you need at least 1 yellow wonderful on the ax. (for the big rocks you need 1 yellow to bash the ligher ones, 2 for the darker ones).

For the horse racing, instead of blowing or talking into your mic, just rub your finger over your DS mic. It's more accurate and doesn't make you look crazy in public!
To chop stumps, 1 yellow = 6 hits, 2 yellow = 3 hits. Put that orange in the axe also and get 12 lumber per stump. Be prepared to move the oranges around a lot for different jobs.

Aww... you make me curious. Haha.
The purple wonderful is for making more money, right? Hahaha! =))
I wanna have an Indigo Wonderful, but how do I have one? It's not for sale right now.
Thanks a bunch for all the help.

You've been helping me quite a lot already.

Thanks for all the tips! Yeah, I'm having SUCH a hard time with the horse racing. Haha.

Yeah, purple is for making money...sort of. You get a whole whopping 2G per purple wonderful every time you use the tool, which is pretty useless.
Indigo wonderfuls are the hardest to get. If you're
extremely lucky, you might win one when you win a festival (I did manage to get one this way). Other random chances to get it would be when you get to the 255th floor of the mine, or if you collect 7 wonderful pieces from Chen - NOT from getting 2nd, 3rd, or 4th in festivals! those ONLY produce purple wonderfuls - and make a new wonderful out of those pieces. That'll take several years to get enough though, and it's ridiculously expensive.
Or again, if you're lucky, Chen might randomly sell one to you in winter - make sure to check his store every day. It is actually possible to manipulate Chen's "random" wonderfuls in winter - there's a thread here on the forum with all the details if you want to attempt it. It's pretty complicated, though... I got one more that way (just randomly, I wasn't trying to influence it).
And of course once you have astronomical cooking skill and ingredients, you can cook your own wonderfuls.

Only that part is wrong. Having Charlie turn 7 wonderful chips into a stone will Always make Purple. Always. Don't bother doing that. Save any chips for cooking later.
Getting an Indigo to show up at the store in winter is kinda hard but not toooo bad. I cooked up 99 weeds and save, ship one, sleep, run to store to check, reload, ship 2, sleep, etc. The problem is shipping a cooked item gives 2 level ups so you're only getting even or odd degree points. Of course all this is blind so if you ship 50 and no Indigo, you have to cook 1 more weed (5 points - so your number could be in the middle of that!) and run through the exercise up to 50 times. Or more. I got one but it was a pain. This whole wonderful chase is a pain but very worth it. I got another orange last week. =P

Even if you never ever got any chips from losing a festival? I know that yeah, if a festival chip even
touches a Chen chip, it turns it 'purple'...
Well, I can't prove it either way I guess, since I've never bothered to do it. It takes too long (2+ years) and costs too much. I was just going off of what the BradyGames guide says for that one. As I have found other mistakes in the guide, I would not be surprised if this was another one.

Hmm. Maybe mine were mixed in my first file. Festival ones are always S-level and those will always make purple. It's a bad deal either way - Chen's chips cost Way too much.
Use other methods anyway!

I couldn't follow all that! My head is swirling... O_o
So, in short, it's VERY VERY VERY hard to get an Indigo wonderful, am I right???
*sigh* So I suppose at least 1 at a time could give some bit of wonders... *sigh*
P.S. What are the other methods???

Just the stuff in my earlier post.
In order from easiest to hardest (in my opinion):
1) Luckily winning it when you win a festival (random, but free!)
2) Luckily finding it for sale at Chen's store in winter (made slightly harder if you try to actually influence what Chen sells). Not free though. I think indigos found this way cost 30,000G. Or was it 50,000G? Anyway, somewhat expensive, at least for early in the game.
3) Luckily getting it from making it all the way to the bottom of the mine (floor 255).
4) Building up your cooking skill massively, and cooking them yourself. This will take tons of time and ingredients, but it's fully reliable, no randomness to worry about.
5) Possibly getting it by combining 7 Chen wonderful pieces that have never touched any festival wonderful pieces. However this is not fast OR cost-effective since Chen only sells 1 piece per season, on the 10th (and only if he's open on that day) for an absolute max of 4 pieces per year, and each one costs 30,000G. So since you need 7 pieces...that an absolute minimum of 2 years, and a cost of 210,000G. Not really worth it.

Hmmm... it seems that they're almost all based on luck BlueTrillium. Man.
#4, I can cook them? I guess the best options are the cook and the 1st 2 numbers. Thanks a bunch! =))
