I've just completed Harvest Moon AWL SE on the PS2. I now understand why it was called a Wonderful Life.
Cos' you die at the end.....how sad.....it really was a wonderful life...*sniff*
Sorry for this random comment, but i had to get that out...does anyone else feel really disappointed at the end?

It is sad.. but in the AWL:SE version, cant you choose the afterlife option? And then you can continue with your file?

I know what you mean. Its the same thing for me in the Murray event if you tell him to stop stealing food from your food storage. and when you sell an animal. Its the sad music that gets you, so I usually mute it if I have to sell an animal.

AWL was my first harvest moon game. It was really fun at first, but then i got sick of it. First, i had to play as a boy. I don't wanna play as a boy, other girls are okay with it but i'm not one of them. Why? 'cuz i have to marry a girl. It makes it worse by the fact you are forced to. Second, time will pass wether you like it or not. Third, there are little to no holidays and there are only 10 days in a season. Last and most importantly, you die at the end of the game. Why don't the people older than you other than Nina die? Believe me, i had a HUGE "culture shock" when i played MFoMT because almost everything in the game is different in gameplay. Still, AWL was my first favorite harvest moon game so i cant blame it. And i miss Celia, the girl i married, but only as a friend. Never the less, MFoMT is still my No. 1 no matter how many new harvest moon games i played (over 6 i think).

I think I'd feel relieved for playing that game for that long of a time.

Well, AWL put everything and make it look as realistic as possible, which is the reason why it becomes my favorite game. Deaths, children growing up in terms of physical and personality, and characters have their own problem and unique traits are featured; which are lacking in new HM games. It's the only HM games in which the MC died, although it's not the first to mention human death (HM64 was the first), so I can understand the shock.

That's the thing. I do have a GameCube, but when I found the game AWL, the girl version wasn't available. And when it was, I had already played the newer games and realized how much the wonderful life games sucked. Even the boys suck. The worst of them is my most hated of all harvest moon characters (no seriously, ALL),Marlin...
But I think the most realistic part of the game which wasn't a pain in the back side was the animals. About every concept about the animals, most especially the cows, was realistic. I was a little surprised to find out that the other games don't have the same concept as AWL. However, it does make farming a lot easier in the ds games... hehehe.

The game is called "A Wonderful Life" (or "Another Wonderful Life" for girls): you arrive to the village as a young person, you run your farm, make friends, get marry, have a child, get old and die. Peaceful and full of good feelings Life.
There is something what annoyed me about the hero's death. I mean, why the old people like Galen, Romana, Casey and Patrick or even Carter were able to live longer than YOU? I don't get it. Galen was like 80 years old. Romana and the Twins were around this age too. I'm not sure what happened to the hero. Maybe he had a heart attack and that why he died faster? I can't believe he died because of old age.

That's exactly what i was thinking, too. It is kinda odd how the people older than you live longer than you. D'think the guys who made this game thought it through
properly?!

well the main character's dad dies in the beginning, so maybe its a genetic problem that makes them die that young. at the end of the game your son is as old as you were in the beginnig

plus with the long life expectancy these days, its not too farfetched for some of the people to be in their 100s
i was a little disapointed that the vally didnt ever change except for after the first year
