Is this a good game?

I've played HMDS and HMDSC, and several old gameboy ones. I'm sort of wanting a new HM game to mess around with and I know where I could get this one used pretty inexpensively. I've heard that this game is more complicated though and some people didn't like it... so my question is, do you recommend it, or should I spend my time with something else?

It has flaws, like all HM. I still love it. I'm not sure if I would recommend it since whether you like it or not depends on you.

The plot is kinda like DS since you do certain tasks to unlock unimportant character, but instead of rescuing Harvest Sprites you get tourist to come to the island.

Not all the characters are there from the start, you have to do certain tasks to get other villagers to move in as well. And you also have to build bridges to reach different parts of the island.

Some flaws are; you have to use the stylus, there is an annoying sun/water point system for growing crops, activating the Heart Events can be kind of confusing, and people will move out if you ignore them for too long.

But it is nice how you really get to improve the place and make it full of people. And I love the character set. Anyways I think it is a good game...

I like it. A lot of people find the touch controls annoying, though.

Still, I think it's a good game. It's one of my favorites in the series. I like the setting, the graphics, (most of) the characters, and that the game doesn't just hand you things like rice and flour. You actually have to grow and process those things yourself, which I think makes the game more rewarding in the end.

Pretty much my only complaint with the game is the fullness bar. For one thing, it's annoying as hell. And for another, the penalty for letting it get low makes no sense. Being hungry makes you sleep less not more.

That's just nitpicking, though, and it doesn't really distract much from all of the game's good qualities. I definitely recommend it.

IoH is one of my favorites in the series as well. The complication people complain about is the sun/water point system but it's not near as complicated as people make it out to be. As long as you have a grasp on basic math, (Just adding really) you should be just fine. xD

I like the touch controls personally, but some others don't. It think it really makes the flow of the game a lot better. There is certainly more difficulty than the other titles, but even then it's really easy. Especially with the help of the Ushi guide. 83

So I'm weird and LIKE the sun/water point system and touch controls. While others think it a con. Hmm... anyway, it is something new to check out from the other titles you've played. It uses a new tool system with wonderfuls, branching heart system, a mining system that you'll either love or hate I imagine. There is a lot you can build up, you basically start with a run down shack and a place for your horse and dog. You have to get the barn, chicken coop, build up your house, upgrade them, make awesome accessories, play around with wonderfuls to get customized results with your tools, and you get to have a large community of people who live in the town making it feel... like a town.

The only gripe I have, is having to talk to everyone at least once every 30 days, but it's not a big deal. I just talk to everyone on the 15th and 30th. You only need to talk to everyone every day if you plan of giving them gifts.

Um, well, I don't have much to say other than if you do get the game make sure to take breaks or move your position every now and then.... I have permanetly ruined my elbow due to the awkward controls. I played it for too long in the same position, so now doing certain physical activities makes my elbow hurt.

But I suppose the fact that I played long enough to hurt my elbow means its a fun game, right?

Haha, I think so xD

So, thanks guys, it sounds like I should just try it out and see :D It seems pretty different from the others I've played, but that's probably a good thing (if I didn't want something different, I wouldn't be thinking about getting a new game, right?)
So you ALWAYS have to use the stylus to move around? D: That sounds kind of annoying to me, I haven't liked it in other DS games... but maybe it'll be okay in this one xD
I do kind of like the idea of starting out with a basic island and building up the town... Meh, I'll probably try it, see how it is xD
