It depends on which Harvest Moon game you're playing. There are Harvest moon games where you can also have unfertilized eggs, which won't hatch. In which case you need to make your chicken happy to increase the probability of having fertilized eggs.
If it's not one of those games then you should be able to put your egg in the incubator and in a matter of time the egg will hatch (this may take about two to three weeks, depending on the harvest moon game you have)
Also if you don't have enough feeding bins to take care of all the chickens, then the game will either not let you put the egg in the incubator or the egg won't hatch.

That's true but this is the Grand Bazaar thread so I'm assuming that's what they are playing.
