so if i grow strawberries in basement after it has fully matured, do I still double water it? I've seen some say yes some say no and now im just plain confused looking at the site's chart I assume I would double water unless someone can explain why not

Water once per day 2 days 3 days 2 days Total: 8 days
Water twice per day 2 days 2 days 1 day Total: 6 days

*Returns to Stage 2 after harvest

Yes. You can and should double water. Unless its raining outside, then you can only water once. I don't know why that is, but that's how it works.

If they're in your basement, (or if they're outside, for that matter) always double water them, since it lessens the time before they mature/bear fruit again.
That being said, watering them once a day won't hurt them at all, it'll just take longer for them to grow.

@alyx, i don't think that the rain outside would water them in your basement, because it is enclosed underground (not susceptible to outside weather conditions)

I know that, but I've noticed on rainy days I can't seem to double water my basement crops. That's all I was saying. It doesn't make any sense.

I've noticed this myself as well. I watered my basement crops at 7am one morning and hung around until like 11pm, and they never went dry. And yet, there have been times when I WAS able to water them twice. :\ At least I know it's not just me.

Well, at least I know I'm not crazy now. It doesn't make any sense for that to happen... They probably just forgot to take that part out of the game since the crops are inside.

Yeah, it kind of boggles my mind, to tell you the truth...I wish I could figure out what triggers you not to be able to water them a second time, since I know for a fact there have been days where I was able to.

At least we can both rest assured we're not losing it. :D

You have a leaky basement?
Either that or they figure that the air is so damp that soil will stay wet longer.
either that, or since the floor of your basement is non-existant (either that or you spent rediculous amounts of money filling your basement with dirt) the ground water from outside seeps into your basement feild.

Or I'm just over-analyzing again.

i see what you guys are saying. sorry i misunderstood. i guess i never paid enough attention to the watering schedule on rainy days <--- oh i made a funny > 3<

I just absolutely confirmed it, over the course of 5 rainy/stormy days in Fall and 3 snowy days in Winter.

The basement crops were dry in the morning, when I watered them at around 6:15am, and even waiting around downstairs until 11:30pm, they NEVER went dry. I guess they decided even basement crops aren't safe from the effects of wet weather. :\

I vote for the leaky basement theory; the moisture builds up throughout the course of the day, and keeps everything soggy later on.

darn the leaky basement ._. it makes the crops slower in a "non-weather affected" area
