Wild dogs and such
You know I don't really worry about this much because I hardly EVER take my animals out of the barns, but nonetheless I notice they warn about wild dogs coming to attack the animals at night and how you can protect them by setting up a 'fence' around the animals and whatnot. "But I have to mention that I have NEVER seen a single wild dog, ever, nor have I had any of my animals attacked by them.
Are there really wild dogs in HMSI?

According to some walkthroughs I used stray dogs in SI do exist, though I don't remember ever encountering them. But my memory is pretty rubbish, sooo
Anyway even if you have a fence around your animals, they still tend to get stressed when that dog barks at them (I vaguely recall it was the case in IoH)

Um are you talking about Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands? Or an older version? Because I'm talking about Harvest Moon Sunshine Islands.Iz wrote:I have seen wild dogs. In fact, i see them every night nearly, cos i leave my ducks out until about 8:00 pm, then i get a warning and just put them in the barn and chase it off with a hammer. Its not scary, not even a problem.

You can only get ducks in HMDS, so you're talking about the wrong one. And for in SI, I haven't encountered dogs ever but I don't ever take my animals out anyways...Iz wrote:I have seen wild dogs. Pretty fugly little dogs. They'll come out every time your animals are outside. Your dog will chase them away but not completely. Hitting the wild dog with your tools makes them run off too. Very persistent bastids.
Stone fence works absolutely perfectly. Be careful if you leave them out for days - in the morning, a rock/weed spawn inside your corral can boot a chicken outside.

Whoa, Meepas, I'm surprised to see you here. XD
I have indeed seen a wild dog on my farm. It was around 8 PM (and it wasn't summer.) They have pointed ears, if I recall correctly.

Wow, really? O_o *hasn't had a chance to get chickens yet* Right now I'm saving all my lumber and cash for the supersized house upgrade.Stone fence works absolutely perfectly. Yep, I will second what others are saying -
The wild dogs always appear if you leave animals out at night. I never take out my sheep or cows, but I will leave my chickens out 24/7 if the weather is not going to be bad, and I see a wild dog every night that my chickens are out. He tends to show up not long after full dark and hang around for a few hours before giving up and leaving the farm. I just ignore him.
I have my chickens enclosed in a material stone fence and I have never seen their stress levels go up due to the wild dog barking or anything. Although I suppose it could possibly be that the stress benefits of being outside outweigh any stress loss from the wild dog.
I have only had a chicken booted out of the fence by weed/stick spawning maybe 3 times, so it's pretty rare, but it does happen. I just keep an eye out when I do my morning rounds to make sure all chickens are in bounds. ^_^

I haven't been able to do it yet. I'd laugh if I did though.
