Number of stars for certain items

I was wondering if the number of stars for certain items can increase? Like for example oil, rice. Those can only be bought I think and so far I've only seen .5 star for them. So my question is: will their star level increase? If not, how are we gonna get high star level items which require them as ingredients?
Any help is appreciated.

I think you're right, basketshooter10. I do occasionally get various HMs mixed up, but I'm about 98% sure that Grand Bazaar does not have rice that you can grow yourself and the only grain you can grow is wheat.
But to answer the original question, for items that you can only buy, it's true that they're always going to be 1/2-star or so and you can't improve them. At least, not directly. However, sometimes there are little things you can do. For example, with rice: if you buy the bagged (uncooked) rice, then if your cooking skill is high enough, it may gain a star or two when you cook it. That sort of thing. I don't think there's anything you can do with oil by itself, but as long as the rest of the ingredients in your recipe (be it a windmill recipe or a kitchen one) are high-star, then the result will still be high-star as well.

I'm pretty sure (so don't quote me on this) but I think that as you increase your bazaar and the longer you play the more stars things get. Like when I first started out, I could only find .5 star branches, weeds, stones, flowers, ect. However, I'm in year 3 now and I could find 2 or 2.5 star branches and what not. I'm not positive it's the same for buying things though. I gave up on GrB after I had my baby with Amir so I haven't played it in a while. Sorry if I'm wrong

Yeah, I remember that the quality of the branches/weeds/stones/etc. went up the longer I played. I did not really pay attention to the quality of the dishes at all. As long as it was a new recipe, it was good.pshycho wrote:I'm pretty sure (so don't quote me on this) but I think that as you increase your bazaar and the longer you play the more stars things get. I don't have the same items that you listed, but I'll give you what I can
Year: 3 Bazaar level: 75%
Mithril: 1 star
Chocolate: .5
Emerald: 2.5 stars
All dishes (bought not at bazaar): .5
All ores (found): 2.5-3 stars
Sorry it's not much help. I'll be more helpful later when I'm not trying to leave for work. I'll most likely post later today
