Question about profanity

No, I'm not trying to find out what certain words mean.
I just had a quick question about a fanfic I'm thinking of writing.
If I was going to put in a...bad word, would it be better to write it as it is, so the censors could take care of it, or put the first letter followed by asterisks?
Of course, the best thing would probably be to not include it at all, but...out of the choices above (or any others you can think of), which would be the best way? If there is one?
I can't believe I'm asking this... O_o

Well if you're posting it here, to disregard the filter is kinda mean for those people that have profanity filtered out for a reason. If people don't mind reading swears/etc then they'll take the filter off. People with the filter on are the only people that'll see 'chicken hugging' or what have you, and I doubt they'll mind since they're the ones choosing to have the filter enabled.
So just write the word. If people don't wanna see the word « Cow Poopoo » they'll put the filter on XD

Ah, okay. I didn't really
want the actual word to be seen, I just wanted readers to know what I meant. Which I guess is pretty much the same thing. XD
I wasn't sure if using asterisks would still be offensive enough to readers. It's most important that I don't offend those sensitive to it, of course.

Why not just use an alternative word then? Like fudge or darn or crud or mothertrucker?

Well, it's hard to explain...
The sentence is, "And I am
not to be ------ with."
I thought about "messed," but I felt like that wasn't strong enough. It kinda helps shape the character. But not so much that I can't write the story without it. I'm okay with leaving it out, if necessary.
Thanks for helping, lemo.
