They're using the RFF style portraits! FLUHUHUHUHLUHFLUH!!!
I want to marry the main girl and play as her at the same time... Do we know the two main character's relationship? Is it brother/sister or something else? I hope you can marry the other because I love them both...

And I really don't mind the amnesia thing anymore. They can use it for every game for all I care. I think they're just doing it for these four games though because it fits well with the main plot.

There's a slider on the side for the depth of the 3D. You can turn it off completely and it looks like a normal DS game.

Rune Factory 4 looks awesome! I'm happy that we can play as a girl, I like Frey's design. I am however slightly annoyed at how feminine the male protaginist looks. I wish they would make him be a bit more masculine, a guy with black hair and green eyes would be great!

*sigh* I really hopes this game comes to America soon. I'm really excited to get my hands on it!

I think I'll stick to my western made games to get my romance simulation fix, games such as Mass Effect and Dragon Age, much more mature and with actual men in them. Harvest Moon and Rune Factory are games for kids, and I think I've finally realized that it's time for me to move on.

While I do agree with your perspective on the male protagonists (RF1-RF3 has androgynous male protagonists, while RFO has a very stereotypical male that is not androgynous), japan gamers seem to have a liking to that type of protagonists. I'm also in my 20s and while I do find it rather offsetting, when you have good RF gameplay and great character interactions, it could easily be looked over.

Marvelous started off with having two protagonists in RFO. Naturally, they made them stereotypical to their gender since it was their first attempt at pleasing fans that wanted male and female playable characters. After fan reactions, they may have picked up great feedback to improve on protagonists for future games. RF4's male still seems androgynous, but not as much as Raguna and Micah.

Here's my take on RF4:
-RF:ToD isn't even out yet and they are already developing the game? Amazing...
-Main male art looks very similar to Iris' art style, and the in-game portrait's face has a RFF Raguna feel.
-One of the girls' portraits gives off a Selphy vibe.
-I Expect the doki-doki scenes to possibly utilize the gyro sensor as you look at your companion.
-Based on current screenshots, looks like the interface will stay true to the DS version. With the 3DS 3D capabilities, I was wondering if they would follow Ocean's example since I did hear 3D models are implemented. Or it it for the doki-doki scenes only?
-Would they use streetpass features for the game? There doesn't seem to be a good use for it ATM...
-Here's a neat idea: the 3DS records what games you play on it. If you played RF1-RF3 on your 3DS, perhaps the developers could give an easter egg to their hardcore fans and have people from past installments visit your game?

As far as RF4 goes, I hope for the best for it, but like all future games, I rather not look into this too much, otherwise the hype may kill a lot of the enjoyment of the game when it finally comes out in the US.

The pictures of Rune Factory 4 look amazing! I'm just sad it's for the 3DS and not the DS

I agree with gameplay and character interaction being the draw of these games. :D

Basically what was said before, aside from the part where Hasimoto states that the story doesn't connect to the previous games. Now I don't know what he means by that, but I'm a bit worried. D: Does that mean no fight with Ventuswill?

As for the return characters, I'm almost positive there will be one. I think there's always been a return character in these games (Ceci, Yue, Mei, Tabatha, Candy, etc). Actually, with the whole tourism gimmick, I'd expect a lot of return characters. But I won't get my hopes up just yet.

@ZaFreed You think this one's not as girly as Raguna? Interesting...Also, glad to hear I'm not the only one picking up a Selphy vibe, or to notice the similaries between the new protag and Iris. ^^ What kind of street pass features did you have in mind?

@Starlight Hmm, I don't think you'll have to worry about the grid-like town. It looks like the first part is against the grid, but looking further I see more roofs, so I assume there will be a good amount of buildings in the middle as well. We should be able to roam just like we did in RF3. I don't know why they'd revert back now.
