So, exactly as the subject states, my game will not load. Just freezes at "load this diary". This will be the second time it has happened that I had to restart the game over again. First time I was in year 4, second time I was still in year 1, Autumn 21. I dont understand why it's doing this, I'm not using the cheats... Is there a way to fix it, or get it to load my game? Getting pretty irritating...

This could be the reason:

Saving Glitch
At some point in your game you might not be able to load it.
Why? Corrupted file.
Possibly caused by turning off your game while saving or loading

That's lovely... So is there any way to get my current game back, or am I screwed and have to start over each time?

Sadly from what I heard there hasn't been a way to recover it. Sorry.
If you make another file you could try saving the same game on both slots so in case one gets corrupted you have the other one. Thats what I did when my file got corrupted.

You know I did that this last game, and both of them wouldn't load. That's when I decided to make the post about it. Just my luck, eh... Well thank you for your help.

You're hiring the sprite fishing team, aren't you? For some reason, when you hire the sprite fishing team, it can cause file corruption. It doesn't happen EVERY time, but it happens. The best thing to do is not hire the fishing team. But if you feel it's necessary, DON'T SAVE WHILE THEY"RE HIRED. Or you can make a back-up save file BEFORE you hire them. If you make a back-up file while they're hired, then you risk the dreaded double file corruption. There may be other reasons for file corruption, but I'm willing to bet this is the cause of your problems.

I wonder if that's the case? I've already lost 2 files in my Harvest Moon DS game and it's always Slot 2. And I always use the billion gold glitch in that Slot too.

I'm not using the fishing glitch at all, I saved my game in the excavation site, went to reload it and the top screen went black and the touch screen froze on the "load this game" screen, I waited for 5-10 minutes and then had no choice but to shut it off, it does the same thing now every time I try to load, but my friend's file was on slot 2 and I was too nice to save over it.... now I'm seriously regretting it.... I was well into year 2 and had a yellow heart with Keira and already had saved the harvest goddess..... fml, I'm just gonna give up harvest moon, too much heartache with the data loss...

That happened to me in the mine too, it's really glitchy in there. Even if you aren't using the billion gold glitch, if you have the fishing team hired than that can cause it too. But it is probably the mines.
