From what Osuchin posted, Mikoto is pretending to be a man (only read thd first sentence so i didn't spoil myself). And you are probably right, she probably is as you said in your post "trying to further her training and to not be seen as weak to others". If that is the case i now wonder if someone in her past said something hurtful her like she can't become a true samurai because she's a woman.

Also guys during those times were a bunch of spineless weak minded turds who couldn't except women as their equals because of stupid pride -_-

I like feminine and none feminine looking bachelorettes ^3^, for me its hard to decide between Sonia and Mikoto, Sonia is cute and adorable while Mikoto is cool and pretty, i can't decide >3<

Although I'm a fan of the "cool beauty" types like Mikoto as well, I have to give a slight edge to Sonia. I can't help myself when it comes to the small, cute, cheerful, defenseless(not physically weak, naive and the kind that probably wouldn't be able to tell you were hitting on her, also very open) types. I'm torn between wanting to protect them and wanting to push them down. Gah, I'm a perv(I think I can understand Joe's thought process, being "taken" with her at first sight.)
It'd be cool if Mikoto being a samurai could benefit your skill with weapons stat, like the constellation event with Uzuki in RFF. For instance, once her LP(or FP if you're Sonia) is high enough, there could be an event where she offers to spar with you/discuss combat techniques(maybe even inspiring a mini-game) and you recieve a small boost in your weapons skill/experience. They really should have more of this sort of random event in the newer HMs/RFs, it would motivate you to explore more/befriend people(wow I used a lot of slashes and parenthesis.)

So now Mikoto is like Mulan? XD

Just saying this dissapoints me about playing as sonia:

Thanks a lot, you made me want to somehow watch Mulan again(and develop a huge soft spot for Mikoto.) My brother says it's the only cool Disney movie(probably half-jokingly.) His track team sometimes sings "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from its original soundtrack when they run. And just so everyone knows, the wii is in fact region locked. I had to figure that out the hard way, bringing only my European games(about 10 or so which I will never be able to play again unless I invest in a new European wii) when I moved here from Ireland, only to get the "This disk cannot be read, you've been screwed. " message from my American wii.

I always loved Mulan when I was little. I wish Disney would make more movies like that. It gives so much Nostalgia. ;_;

I kinda think of Mikoto as RFO's Raven now... She looks like the not so friendly type who will open to Azel/Sonia
I wish I could understand Japanese to read her dialogue. I'd probably marry her then. But there are so many pretty girls... ;A;

I think that should be the reason why she became the guardian of the island. To show that she isn't weak as a woman.

I wonder if she'll become as popular as Raven. It seems like most people are at least considering Mikoto for their wife. I hope Azel and/or Sonia don't get shunned as the Mark/Chelses/Mana/Shara/ insert other bland as white rice character of this game simply because their romantic relationship seems to be canon. They actually have apparent personalities throughout the story from what I've seen, and as I've mentioned, I'm a huge fan of Sonia's design (I should shut up about her now, huh?)

Nah, Sonia and Azel probably won't get ignored or hated just because of their childhood friendship. Just because they are friends from the start it doesn't mean they are forcing you to marry them. ;P

I really like Sonia's design, it makes her look cute and it isn't full of pink. I really enjoy playing as her. (specially the cute sound she makes when she jumps) But probably in the english version she will sound a bit more mature and won't make as much cute noises, I'm just assuming tough maybe Natsume will leave her cuteness how it is. :D

Why is Mikoto so popular all of a sudden?

She was a bit popular when the game was announced. Or so I've heard.
Maybe people decided to not marry her because of "the thing she does". But I guess they got used to "that" so maybe she is gaining popularity again. I'm just assuming probably. Or maybe there are new fans and they don't know about "that" yet.

Those who know what she does probably know what I'm talking about. I won't mention it because of spoilers.

'Cuz we're comparing her to Mulan, the only decent Disney princess. In all seriousness, we were saying she's similar to Raven, the most popular bachelorette from RF3 so she might enjoy similar popularity.

Nooo...I demand cute voice acting for my Sonia! I wish there was an option to change the game to the original Japanese audio while keeping the text english. Almost everyone I've talked to about it prefers Japanese VA(It always has that certain something, doesn't it?) so I'm sure they would make a lot if they make it DLC on the wii(c'mon Natsume/Marvelous, I know you can hear me. )

I love the Japanese Voice Acting for almost everyone! It's so much more appealing then the lifeless English voice actors.

There is a special charm in the Japanese VA that just makes the game special. ;w;
But I bet that Lily's "Oh my" in english will annoy me.

I personally dislike almost all of the English voice acting. They'll probably get someone really loud to play Lili and someone really masculine to play Mokoto, while Helena will probably end up being a 13 year old girl.

And Azel will probably have a voice of a 31-year old man, Joe will have a surfer voice, James will have an accent, Violet will talk so low I will have to put my TV's volume to 100 to hear her, Baccus will talk like a pirate (ARR HELLO AZEL HOW YER DOENG?) Sara will have an annoying voice and you kid will talk about how she/he wants to marry you when he/she grows up. And the villian will be like MUAHAHAHA YOU SUCK HAHAHA. XD

I really hope they do a good job with the voices. ;_;

I definitely just listened to ALL of Lili's phrases... Also I won't even begin to describe how much they can mess up Meru for me.
