RF4 only for Nintendo 3DS?!?!
This is what Nintendo does. As soon as they release a new console, they slowly stop making games for the old console and move on to the other. DS games will slowly come to a stop and 3DS games will only be made. It'll happen when the Wii U comes out, and they'll start making less and less Wii games.
It's not just a Nintendo thing. Every game and console developer does it. Everytime a new console comes out, the market for the previous console is phased out as the market shifts towards the new console. While there is a transitionary phase, it cannot be expected of developers to pour their resources into making games for the less powerful system. Otherwise games would never progress.

At least the price went down. ._.
Once they stop making DS games those will go down, too. I have so many I still want to play, so I don't care if they stop making them. <3
But, I only say that because I have a 3DS. I had to save up months ahead for that. I had to pick up bagfulls of hair, but it was too worth it.
I do miss my DSi (that went "missing"), though... ;_; I really would love to see RF4 on the DS...

Guys. What. I just. Why are you all so surprised!?
Do we see new N64 games coming out?
Do we see new Playstation games coming out?
How about Sega Genesis?
Once a new generation of console comes out, that is the only one that gets new games. Period. Nobody's making anything for DOS anymore, and nobody's going to be making anything for DS anymore, either.
sorry I'm a horrible jerk DX

« Mayor Thomas », guys. It's like you've never experienced the release of a new generation console and the changes that come with it.

And if you wasted all your money on a new DS Lite/XL/i even though you knew the 3DS was just around the corner, then that's your own fault.

Sorry Googa, but I do have to agree with them. Besides, $170 is an AMAZING price. I don't even remember the DS being that low when it was released after a year. Plus its more advanced and backwards compatible? Bravo Nintendo, just bravo.Anonymous Fish wrote:This.HMaddict:) wrote:naah you're not. But this ^Emurii wrote:Guys. What. I just. I won't blame anyone for buying a DS to replace their old ones, but people need to be looking at what Nintento is doing and has done to make their customers happy. I don't see Microsoft or Sony giving away 20 games for jumping the gun and buying a hand console at full price. (like I did...) So people you have enough time so start saving for a 3DS if you really NEED this game.
Edit: whoops sorry about the cost mistake, apparently the DS cost 150. My bundle pack costs $200.
It's fine to agree. It makes sense that you guys think that way. But people don't have to keep lecturing other people just because they don't want to get another new system. The DS has had a bunch of models so it is not surprising that some people are confused that this time the new model is not just a new model but now they are only going to be making games for that system.
Not everyone pays a lot of attention to video game stuff.
(But I'm glad I do. Woot 20 free games for me X3)
Anyways back on topic (sorta) I am surprised they announced a new RF before a new HM. I mean RFO was announced after ToTT and before that game even comes out they are already planning a new RF. Sure they said there was gonna be a 3DS HM but that is all we got. We already know at least some info for RF4.

Though we can't be quick to assume things - the phasing out process is really slow, otherwise mostly subtle and unnoticeable - I mean consider how ToTT is released on both the original DS and the new 3DS. Marvelous is very much aware that shouldn't be too quick to jump a level when their own gamers are still taking their time. Especially considering the marketing move, waiting until the 3DS actually is a hot kicker with sales. (I mean that notorious price drop speaks otherwise getting Nintendo tons of critics...)
To give an example of what I mean - when the PS3 has already been long released, Atlus was still releasing several PS2 games like Persona 3 and Persona 4. Exclusively for the PS2. They wouldn't bother with the next-gen until a whole 2-3 years later in 2009-2011 (3D Dot Game Heroes, Catherine, etc), yet the PS3 was released all the way back in 2006. This also suggests the development process might have had some interference, considering time-taking and what not.
RF4 is still developing isn't it? Depending on the date they started producing and drafting things, we don't exactly know the console direction they intended to take at that time, considering the 3DS might have been still a weak concept then.

ToTT was released in Japan prior to the 3DS coming out, and was not released in 3DS format in Japan. This is Natsume's initiative, not Marvelous'. That's why I keep saying "except in rare circumstances, such as games that have already come out in other countries."garnet_goodie wrote:Though we can't be quick to assume things - the phasing out process is really slow, otherwise mostly subtle and unnoticeable - I mean consider how ToTT is released on both the original DS and the new 3DS. Similarly, Persona 3 was released in Japan in July of '06, while the PS3 was released in November of '06. One theory as to why Persona 4 wasn't developed for PS3 is that the graphics would look shoddy on the new system (source), but I suppose other factors (desire to evoke the memory of Persona 3 through same-console gameplay, limited resources, desire to reach a market that had not yet fully embraced the comparatively terribly-selling PS3) may have come into play.To give an example of what I mean - when the PS3 has already been long released, Atlus was still releasing several PS2 games like Persona 3 and Persona 4. RF4 has been confirmed as exclusively for 3DS. Nintendo releases its platform specs and game design information to developers long before the console comes out to encourage new growth. (I imagine most console developers do this.) Development on RF4 is purportedly half-way done as of the beginning of this summer.RF4 is still developing isn't it?
