I think you have to upgrade your house in order for the pregnancy event to occur. You can move from one village to another, as you probably know. However, if your wive/MC is pregnant, it won't let you move to the other village unless you pay an additional 1mil in order to upgrade the house in the other village.
So based on that, I'm guessing you have to upgrade your house before getting the preggy event and eventually a baby.

I like HM games better when having a kid is optional. It feels more... realistic? xD

Hmm, since this is a ToTT thread involving children, I have a question of my own.
In one of the stickied threads, it says:

In one of the stickied threads, it says:
Urm, okay, so I'm confused. Can your child have two different personalities? Can you have two children and if so, is the daughter first? Also, what does it mean, 'if you are patient'? And I can have a malicious child? Brr....lemo_the_lemon wrote:After love and marriage, you will be raising a child after he or she is born. If you are patient, you will have a daughter, who will be inquisitive about various hobbies. She won’t be calm just wandering around their room. Anyway, your child can be the malicious kind or the kind that will cuddle up to you.
(I am guessing this means you have a daughter first. The only part I wasn’t positive on was the “You will have a daughter” part, but I can’t think of anything else it could be, since it breaks down to “patience/fixed”, “girl/daughter”, “exist”.)

Didn't you have a topic about this a bit ago? People answered it. http://fogu.com/hmforum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=137429Ninja Cicada wrote:Hmm, since this is a ToTT thread involving children, I have a question of my own.

Not always, in some games, like IoH, the child's gender is set at the wedding event. I think I read somewhere that the gender is set at the birthing event; I'll go see if I can find that thread.HarvestMoonEl wrote:Isn't it always random?carebear9788 wrote:How is the gender of the child determined?
EDIT: I can't find it, but I'm almost 95% sure that the birthing event sets the gender.

In A Wonderful Life SE, you always get a boy unless you do a little side quest. The side quest will let you choose the gender of your child. So it's not always random but in this game i believe it is (as it is with all of the HM for the handhelds)HarvestMoonEl wrote:Isn't it always random?carebear9788 wrote:How is the gender of the child determined?

Yeah, I guess it's not always random. Since in Harvest Moon AP your spouse asks you what gender you want. Excuse my bad choice of words~CherryChristmas wrote:In A Wonderful Life SE, you always get a boy unless you do a little side quest. The side quest will let you choose the gender of your child.
