It's based on Japanese sybolisim. In old Japanese tradition the cutting of ones hair sybolizes the desire to change or start anew.

The only thing that changes on Mikoto is that she goes to the beach in a swimsuit, and you see her go to the girl's bath. She will still practice with her sword and will wear the same clothes. :P

My interpretation of the event was like this. It's probably wrong because I don't understand japanese, but something has to be right.

Mikoto and Aden are walking in the town square. Suddenly it starts raining so they go under a tree. Mikoto gives Aden something that looks like a pink towel. I guess it is for him to dry himself. After that they return to Mikoto's room in the inn. Aden opens the door to Mikoto's room and she screams. Probably because she was changing her wet clothes. I guess Aden closed the door and waiter for her to finish. After that he opens the door and apologizes. I guess after that he asks her why she screamed (probably because he doesn't know she is a girl) and after that she takes her sword and cuts her hair. And I guess she tells him she is a girl and that she wants to change.

Mmmm, well, I guess it's cool that she still uses her sword and such..

If the event's more like, she wants to be known as a female (as opposed to everyone thinking she's a guy), but that doesn't exactly mean to act like a stereotypical female, than that is quite a relief, and not nearly as bad as I thought. ^_^
Shame about her hair, though..
I hope that's how it is, because that amy renew hope in Mikoto for me. ;uuu;

But, I guess I'll have to see what they say in the event. :T

Tough, I wish they had made Mikoto's swimsuit a different color. Out of all the colors why pink? Blue would had been better. :?

It probably has to do with how theur heads attatch to the body, graphically speaking. :T
It's an easy way to make it look attatched.

Anyway, I actually like her swimsuit..
I think her hair is starting to grow on me too...
BUT I STILL LIKE IT LONGER BETTER.
