Horse training

I just got my horse and was wondering about TP... What's the "You can race backwards if you're really trying to earn a large TP combination." supposed to mean? Do I get more TP if I get more combination points from jumping? And how much exactly? And can I just race backwards until the game says that the time's over or do I have to turn around before that???

There are two options when you go to the race track, the one where you race three laps and the timed race. Choose the three laps one; when the race begins, turn your horse around and race backwards. You can just keep going and going, racking up consecutive jumps. I've never done this, because it's not like you get a big bonus for training your horse faster, but it should work in theory.

^ what he said. Pick the first option, turn your horse around and just keep jumping 'till the timer reaches 99.99. I usually average around 50 jumps which means i only need around 20 days of training to max my horse's training level. The higher the training level, the more FP you will get for the first time you train your horse on the tracks each day.

I actually have another question in relation to this. Besides the fact that the amount of work it takes to gain FP with your horse is lowered if it has higher TP, is there any other need for training points? It's speed is determined by it's FP level, so it's not as if you need them to go faster. Just wondering because my horse is at max FP but only about half TP, and I'm wondering if it's worth it to keep training him or if I should just keep his FP up.

As far as i know, and as far as Cher's guide goes, the only use for the horse's TP is to gain more FP. Since you horse has already maxed FP, there's no real reason to still get the max TP. Keeping his FP at max to retain the speed is all you need.
Although I would max out the TP simply because it looks better on the board :P

My horse had the max on TP, but a while ago it just went to 0 TP points. I didn't really care, but it was weird.

Ah thank you~ It'll probably get up to max eventually just because training my horse is what I do to kill time. XD;

Other people have reported this too...though I think it might've been with cat/dog training stars instead of the horse.

I believe (I don't have any proof though, other than the fact that the pets still did their jobs just as well as before so they didn't actually lose their training itself) that they continued training their pets even after reaching 10 stars, and the TP actually hit the max - went up to "eleven" stars, if you will - and the game couldn't display it so it wrapped around and went back to zero. I would speculate that if you continued to train, it would hit "twelve" stars eventually, and probably show on the screen as 1 star again, and so on.

But that's just my guess.

Exactly, the same happened to my horse, but the FP went up as fast as it did more stars.
If you continue training, the stars will go up again, but there is no harm.
