Wormzy I don't think I have anything installed to enable HD textures .__.; it would be nice to enable them (wants to see the minecraft world like you do!)
but I also have some worries, like if I downgrade...and then re-upgrade once the server could be upgraded, would I lose my cats in my singleplayer game? D:

You should keep separate .jars for your ssp game and smp. I have a folder with different .jars myself with folder names to help me find out what goes to what. No fussy .jar re-naming, just saving over. And your save files shouldn't be affected.

sasuko, just do what i do.
you make a folder on the desktop (i call mine by number and what mods i have in, so i have 1.1 pam mili say.)
you name it something to remember it by (see above lol)
you copy/move everything in the .minecraft folder into it
then you can download the latest version of the jar by just double clicking the minecraft game starter and it gets you a new jar.
further back there was a post Vann made that had a copy of the needed parts so you could downgrade that way, (and just not allow the copy to update.)
what you do then is have another folder next to the (say) 1.2.3 single player and call it (say) 1.1 oomcraft HD and move all the stuff from the .minecraft folder back to there. then swap between the two.
when you want to oomcraft, you use the stuff inside the 1.1 oom folder, whenyou want your cats and upside down stairs, you move em back and use the 1.2.3 1 player stuff
XD lexy beat me to it

.____.;;;
I do apologize but all that flew right over my head Silver and Lexy Dx my brain doesn't handle things like that very well...I need my partner's brain xD he'd know what it means
I'll try to get my head around what you mean, I can just about make out that I can just have 2 folders, one with the newest update of mine craft and another with the 1.1 version so I can still oomcraft with you guys, but that's as far as my understanding can go ^^;;

Make a folder, name it minecraft_jars
Make another folder inside it named Oomcraft, and put your 1.1 jar in there.
Make another folder inside the Minecraft_jars called SSP or w/e and put your 1.2.3 .jar for your kitties and whatnot there.
Whenever you want to switch between the two, and assuming you have windows, click the windows button
Type Run
On the program write AppData
A window called AppData will open. Choose Roaming-> .Minecraft -> Bin
Copy the .jar from either the OomCraft or SSP folder and choose to overwrite the bins whenever you want to switch between the two.
Word of caution: Using Modloader CAN cause some issues with mods. In that case, make a Mods folder between your Minecraft_jar folders.

Hey just posting to let you guys know that the sand chest in the community is locked with a magic spell so I had to put the sand I dug up in the wood chest next to it.
And can some one please remove the sign from above my head. It is starting to get annoying. Thank you :3

You can do that... or... you could, use something much less convoluted like one of the many profile managers out there.
I recommend for those who want something simple and easy to use/setup:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/919 ... -mananger/
or another simple/easy and slightly more feature having but more buggy manager:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/106 ... e-manager/
Or for those who want to go really advanced:
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/939 ... ions-news/
I personally prefer the first one(Jetset) myself.

.... that further complicates things .__.; for that matter I have no idea how I can get the .jar file to downgrade my minecraft to 1.1 >.<

No problem Sasuko. I tried using one of those .jar managers myself but they are more bothersome to deal with than the method I use IMO. I mean, dragging a .jar isn't a huge deal. xD
You'll have to download a 1.1 jar.
Here is a clean 1.1 jar:
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?785vd4r709e2rk8 as in no MCPatcher or anything; in case you wanna use the yogbox or heavily mod it.

thank yoooouuu! Do I need to compress it of just move the file to the appropriate place?
erm also I am really confused about how to actually put the file in the version on minecraft I want ><
sorry I'm really not that technically minded D:

That's the .jar you would place in Oomcraft folder. And whenever you want to play on Oomcraft you copy that .jar file and put it in the .bin folder. It'll overwrite the current minecraft.jar which you keep a backup in another folder. Whenever you wanna change it, just drag the appropriate .jar back into the bin folder. Make sure it's called Minecraft.jar

Distributing the jar IS illegal. I would suggest you not share it. Use MCnostalgia to downgrade, its really easy, just run then select your version and you are done. Also I don't see how jetset could be more simple, just put a copy of minecraft.exe in your jetset folder then run jetset it will grab the files and make a new profile.
Go to appdata and copy the .minecraft folder, open up the jetset folder then profiles then the folder with the name of the profile you made then in that profile folder paste .minecraft clicking yes on all overwrite requests.
Now you have your default profile. To make another profile open up jetset profile manager then select New and type in an appropriate name for the profile like "1.2.3 vanilla" or whatever you are going to be using the profile for. Click Create then close the jetset program for now. Now you can use Mcnostalgia to change versions and use your default .minecraft in appdata to create new profiles, you can copy and save the .minecraft folder from appdate in jetset/profiles/profilenamehere for easy creation of new profiles.
Now that you've got some profiles you just open up the jetset program then just select the profile you want to play, no changing out jars or folders or having to use cmd prompt just select and play.
