Ok this is so « Mr.Gourmet's hat ».
The restaurant was selling gratin so I bought....30. xD Then I reali()ed "oh « Cow Poopoo », they might become rotten in my cart if I have 30 of them because I'm only going to give one to Hiro every day." So I restart right?
I go to see that there's is no gratin now. So I think: "uh ok, it must be random. I'll just restart and camp out Howard's store until he sells them again." But EVERYTIME I've restarted the day now it's been those 2 same dishes (herb salad and pumpkin soup and always in that order). xD

I DON'T get that. So it's random... yet it's not?

Also when I make recipes it gives me the option of how many I want to make, but it never lets me choose above one. O.o What's up with THAT?

Resetting the game makes it completely random, so you'll have to rely on luck to get the gratin at Howard's restaurant again - it pretty much sucks Oh! I think if you do by chance, buy too many items, you can resell it for the same price in the shipping bin, so you really don't lose money (I think, someone should corroborate this!).

When you make recipes, I think it does that because you don't have enough of the necessary ingredients to make the item.

But if it's completely random how has it been the same two dishes in the same order for like 6-7 tries. xD; Does Howard really sell that little things in Winter of the first year and Gratin happens to be super rare? Seems really weird to me...

Also, no I had enough ingredients for several and it wouldn't let me...

I don't think this is the reason why, but just asking, at the risk of me looking silly, to ensure it isn't so, did you hold down the Up button to select more than 1?

Edited to add: I just saw mochi's reply, and that could be the plausible reason to what you were experiencing.


As for the resetting, I find that the same thing happens when it comes to the next day's weather. I would reset to try get a certain kind of weather after not being satisfied with what I got at first, and find that beyond that first reset, I am 'locked' into whatever weather that reset gave me, and try as I might, I cannot change it again despite several more resets. Looks like the 'lock' applies to items sold in stores too.

In my experience, each ingredient must be in the same slot to make more than one dish.
For example: you want to make Cucumber Namul and you have one slot with one two star Cucumber and one slot with three one star Cucumber. If you choose (or it automatically chooses) slot with the one two star Cucumber, you can only make one Cucumber Namul. If you choose (or it automatically chooses) the slot with the three one star Cucumber, you can make three Cucumber Namul. In both cases you choose (or it automatically chooses) Oil from the same slot. But if you have Oil with drifferent star ranks in different slots, you have the same problem as before. So if you choose (or it automatically chooses) the slot with the three one star Cucumber, but the slot from which the Oil is taken has only two Oil, you can only make two Cucumber Namul even if you have 20 Oil in another slot. This goes for all ingredients.

Maybe that's the reason, I'll have to see. Also yes, I pressed every single button on my DS.

Yes, you can resell the items for the same price. It's kinda strange, but it's neat if you make a mistake and buy an item you don't need.
