What level are you and what equipment are you using? I've had the same problem in the Wind Shrine, but I didn't give up and eventually, I passed it.

I'm at level...8, I think. I'm using the Dual Blades, and I have a lot of recovery potions (that don't seem to be helping)

By equipment, I meant what armors do you have equipped. Equipment is more important in this game than level. Anyway, I think I beat the Earth Temple boss at level 10 using Dual Blades.

I meant I was level 10 and used a Dual Blades-type weapon to beat the boss.

You only have Aden's hat? That's your problem; you need better equipment. You can make some at the workshop in Electra's house using up to 2 ingredients, or buy some from the General Store. The store becomes obsolete in terms of equipment (not ingredients) after the Fire Shrine, so don't rely on it too much.

When you say you're using dual blades, do you mean the original ones?
I'd upgrade them, if I were you.

You can buy some basic, baaasssic equipment from Sierra/Bismark, but it's better to get crafting. Which you can do at Electra's house in the beginning. You'll wanna get a table for yourself sooner or later though. (As you need your own table to make more advanced accessories.)

Likewise, if you want to try and upgrade your weapons, you can use the blacksmith's forge. ^^

No, you can still make equipment after the Fire Shrine; it's just that the General Store and Blacksmith's equipment will become crappy, crappy, crappy by then, so you'll need to rely on crafting.

A yarn ball and a small fleece (both bought at the General Store) makes a Handknit Hat, a much better hat than Aden's at this point in the game. I can't remember any others. :/

Just go to the blacksmith (forge) and the DSC mansion (accessories), and scroll through the list. They'll tell you which materials you'd need, and, I think, what skill level they are. If I remember right, you can craft things up to 20 more than your current level.

No, you can continue to craft after the Fire Shrine, but you can't BUY the accessories.
But, I don't remember this happening... ^^; maybe you get them back? I'm at the wind shrine now, and I buy earrings from there daily (to give to Sierra.)

By the way, when you examine a crafting device for the first time, a character will give you some recipes for it. The character and the recipes you get depend on which crafting center you investigate. This applies to all of them. You can only recieve other recipes from requests.

You can forge weapons~
In the handhelds, you could make shields, too, but Aden hates them. Lazy butt. XD

Enter into it, and immediately turn left, head in that room, and go down, and examine the bench thingamabob.

From the entrance, go west. Enter the door you see and go south. The crafting station is the southernmost desk with the orange thing above it. Walk up to it and press X (or A in the Wii version).
